Kirkbymoorside is a small market town and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England, about 25 miles north of York, midway between Pickering and Helmsley, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The International Centre for Birds of Prey, formerly the National Birds of Prey Centre, in the United Kingdom houses a large collection of birds of prey with over 60 species of owls, eagles and hawks. It works towards the conservation of birds of prey through education, captive breeding, research and rehabilitation. The centre is located at Boulsdon near Newent in Gloucestershire. The Director is Jemima Parry-Jones. In March 2013 a new branch was opened at Duncombe Park in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is located approximately 3 miles south-west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, near to the village of Aldfield. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution in 1539 under the order of Henry VIII. The abbey is a Grade I listed building owned by the National Trust and part of the designated Studley Royal Park including the Ruins of Fountains Abbey UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Historically part of the East Riding of Yorkshire, it is part of the borough of Scarborough between Scarborough and Bridlington on the North Sea coast. Although it was a fishing village, it has a large beach and became a popular tourist resort. According to the 2011 UK census, Filey parish had a population of 6,981, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 6,819.

Mountainbiking with DZ in Banff, Alberta, Eh?

I had the day to myself on a nice rental bike in Banff to check out some of the local trails. HAD A BLAST!! Here's some samples of Tunnel Mountain, HooDoos, The Toe and Top Notch Trails. I included whole ride of Star Wars trail since it was short.(starts between minutes 9 and 10) most rides end up with a nice downhill ride back into Banff with lots of options for local brew and nachos postride.
