Road Trip & Things to do in Lapland, Finland

In search for the best winter spots Kristin & I went on a road trip through Lapland in Finland and checked out all the things to do in Lapland and it was magical!

I know it took a while to finish editing this video as I had to struggle with the 4k video data I got from my new toy: the drone. I'm now able to shoot lovely aerial footage to give you an even broader picture of the destination.

Our trip to finnish Lapland started in Rovaniemi with the visit of the Santa Claus village where we said hi to Santa himself and had some fun tubing and drinking at the ice bar in Snowman World.

Snowmobiling was a great way to start our second day & I would say it's one of the must dos in Lapland for sure!

Next stop was the area of Ylläs where we spent most of our time: ice sculpturing, snowshoeing, skiing, dog sledding, a reindeer safari, sauna and northern light sightings made this trip to once in a lifetime winter experience!

Why we love winter - Discover Lapland

Famous for its endless amount of snow, Lapland is a winter destination like no other. We arrived in Kittilä airport and spent most of our time near Ylläs. Some of the things we got to do includes; snow shoe hiking, visit to an ice hotel featuring Game of Thrones sculptures and checking out a husky farm with all its puppies and furry friends. We stayed at a small cabin through Airbnb, had a BBQ-session in a traditional Finnish kota, took a snow bath and had sauna. Even though we just got to spend a weekend in Lapland it made a solid impression and really showed how wonderful it looks as snow covers the entire scenery.

Seeing the Northern Lights in Lapland - Finland

We stayed at the magical Northern Lights Ranch in Lapland, Finland.
It was one of the most unique experiences of our lives and we were lucky enough to see the aurora borealis.

The Northern Lights Ranch is a 30 minute ride from Kittila airport and one of the most unique hotels we have ever stayed in.
