Kivik is a locality situated in Simrishamn Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 960 inhabitants in 2010. It is located in a part of Scania called Österlen. Kivik is known for its annual market, usually taking place on the third Monday through Wednesday of July each year. It's also known for its abundant production of herring, apples and apple cider, usually sold in large quantities at the market. Historically, Kivik is also home to a bronze-age tomb - the 3,000-year-old King's Grave. It is the largest circular burial site in Sweden, measuring 75 metres in diameter. The national park of Stenshuvud is situated to the south of the village.

1. Stenshuvud National Park Kivik
Stenshuvud is a hill in the southeastern corner of Sweden, in the province of Scania, close to Kivik in Simrishamn Municipality. Since 1986, it is one of the National parks of Sweden. The park covers an area of about 3.9 km2 . The hill is 97 m high and faces the Baltic Sea. Since the surrounding landscape is relatively flat, it can be seen from a great distance and has traditionally been used as a landmark for seafarers. Many visitors trek up the hill to enjoy the view which is very good in clear weather. Most of the area is covered with broadleaf forest, especially European hornbeam. The park also contains heaths, meadows and swamps. Because of the mild climate and varied habitats, many different animal and plant species can be encountered in the park. Ale's Stones is a megalithic monument in Scania in southern Sweden. It is a stone ship, oval in outline, with the stones at each end markedly larger than the rest. It is 67 m long formed by 59 large boulders, weighing up to 1.8 tonnes each. The carbon-14 dating system for organic remains has provided seven results at the site. One indicates that the material is around 5,500 years old whereas the remaining six indicate a date about 1,400 years ago. The latter is considered to be the most likely time for Ales Stenar to have been created. That would place its creation towards the end of the Nordic Iron Age.

Sofiero Palace or just Sofiero in Helsingborg Municipality, Scania was one of the Swedish royal family's country mansions, located 5 kilometres north of Helsingborg. It was originally a Scanian farm called Skabelycke, bought in 1864 by Crown Prince Oscar of Sweden and his wife Sophia of Nassau. The first one-story palace was completed in 1865. It was expanded to its current size between 1874 and 1876, after crown prince Oscar had been crowned king Oscar II of Sweden and Norway.

Travel Sweden | Touristing in Simrishamn & Kivik

☼ ALL INFO HERE ☼

My friend Charlotte and I took an improvised trip and ended up in Simrishamn! It's situated in the eastern part of Skåne (Sweden's southernmost region) and is a very nice port city that used to be a fishing village in the time of the vikings. We had a walk around town, the beach and visited St Nikolai church.

After that we took a bus to Kivik and its musteri where they make apple juice, wine and other delicious products. All because of the Jojo Sommarkort (summer card) that lets us travel Skåne for free (price: 595 SEK, then unlimited travel on all trains and buses from 15 June - 15 August).

Österlen, Skåne, Sweden, 2015

This is a little video i filmed over my vacation at Österlen. Österlen is the south east part of skåne, wich is as far down in sweden you could possibly go.

Österlen is a very beautiful place. If you live in sweden, you must go to Österlen.

This video was filmed at Ales stenar (Ale's Stones) and at a waterfall (Don't know the location name) and at my house, where me and my family stayed in.
