Exploring the Carpathian Mountains - Ukraine

The Carpathian Mountains are the second largest mountain range in Europe that stretch across 7 countries, one of them being Ukraine! My diverse tour with Cobblestone Freeway allowed me to breathe in the fresh air of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains and enjoy natural beauty, traditional villages, and experience a lifestyle that has remained unchanged for centuries. The journey was a memorable one and here are my favorite highlights!

Carpathians to Crimea by ex-soviet train, 30 hours that can break the nerves of the most adventurous

We take this Ukranian train from Kolomyia to Simferopol. 30 hours in total of a hard adventure. We purchase 2nd class, (coupe), sleeper so we share our room with an Ucranian lady and her two nice daugthers. The trip is very cheap, each of us paid around €35.
The train stops in at least 10 stations and in many of them you have time to go down and buy all sort of food from babushkas: fruits, dried fish, potato cakes, ... you name it.
Unfortunately the train has no air conditioning neither you can open the coupe window, so the last 5 hours when we where getting close to Crimea the room became a bit of a hell - over 32ºC.
