Kukruse is a village in Toila Parish, Ida-Viru County in northeastern Estonia. It is located by the Tallinn–Narva road , between the cities of Kohtla-Järve and Jõhvi. Adjacent to the village is a district of Kohtla-Järve sharing the same name, Kukruse. Before the 2017 Administrative Reform, the village belonged to Kohtla Parish. As of 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 52.Kukersite, a marine type oil shale of Ordovician age, is named after Kukruse.     Oru Palace was a palace in the northeastern part of Toila in the Viru valley of Jõhvi Parish in Ida-Viru County, Estonia. The palace was originally the holiday home of a Russian merchant, Grigory Jelisejev, and later the summer residence of the Estonian head of state. It was built in the Italian renaissance style by Gavril Baranovski, with park designer Georg Kuphaldt. The 57-room three-story building was completed in 1899. The palacee descends towards the river terraces, and also contains riding stables and manege. Alleged construction of the palace and the park was the total cost of 5 million gold rubles.
