Top Things to do in Tokyo with Kids: Tokyo Skytree, Sumida Aquarium, Solamachi, and Sensoji Temple
We loved our Tokyo Family Trip! Traveling to Tokyo with a baby is so much fun! I've just returned from two weeks in Japan with my nine-month-old baby and I assure you my entire family had a wonderful time. I've put together this video highlighting the perfect baby-friendly day in Tokyo featuring some of the most famous attractions! Please enjoy our Tokyo Family Vacation!
We began our morning in Asakusa wandering through Nakamise Shopping Street. If you are looking for souvenirs, this is a great place to buy them.
We walked through the gates to Sensoji Temple. Be sure to check out the holy smoke!
Recharged with some green tea.
Next, we made our way a few blocks to Tokyo Solamachi:
This is a beautiful shopping mall with incredible views of Tokyo Skytree, delicious restaurants and wonderful mommy rooms for nursing and diaper changes.
We enjoyed a spectacular lunch at Solamachi Kunimi restaurant. We almost felt like Skytree was dining with us.
Next, we made our way to our main attraction for the day, Skytree Observation Deck:
Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー Tōkyō Sukaitsurī) is a broadcasting, restaurant and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010 and reached its full height of 634 meters (2,080 ft) in March 2011, making it the tallest tower in the world!
The views are of course incredible and it is a wonderful way to see the whole city. There are cute photo opportunities set up for families, a cafe and even a fun changing gallery at the very top. While I was there they had a super cool Barbie through the years exhibit and next there will be Hello Kitty.
You can easily get to Tokyo Skytree on Tobu Railway. Trains stop at the adjacent Tokyo Skytree Station and nearby Oshiage Station.

We ended our day at Sumida Aquarium and it was my baby's first experience at an aquarium! This aquarium was the perfect size and right at Tokyo Skytree too. It was very well organized, full of lots of fun activities and animals of course!
I hope you enjoy this full day of family fun in Tokyo! We also were lucky to visit during the Sakura season when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom!!

City of the Samurai, Aizuwakamatsu: Video Update #10
In this video we share our stay at Toyama and Aizuwakamatsu. We visit a number of hot spots during our short stay: including the Aizuwakamatsu castle, a samurai residence, Mt. Iimori and the Oyakuen Garden. Our hosts recommend a delicious and very inexpensive dish of Tanmen ramen. We also try some local sushi at a revolving sushi restaurant where a mini-shinkansen brings your order. Finally we find some time practice calligraphy and write our names in Japanese characters. Aizu is a beautiful city with an incredible history and amazing people.
