Places to see in ( Les Issambres - France )
Les Issambres is the seaside and holiday destination of the commune of Roquebrune-sur-Argens, France. It stretches along 8 km of inlets and fine sandy beaches. Its incarnation as a resort took place in the 1930s with the development of Hotel La Résidence (now named Hôtel club Vacanciel des Issambres) above the La Garonette Beach. Clearly conspicuous from the sea it is located in the valley Val d' Esquieres that Les Issambres shares with the commune of Sainte Maxime. Eastwards on the beach is the sailing center with boat rentals and a sailing school, a protected boat harbour with some marine shops, dive center and restaurants. There is a ferry Les Bateaux Verts that takes passengers to the Sainte Maxime harbour or Saint Tropez.
On August 15, 1944, the beaches of Saint Tropez, Sainte Maxime and Les Issambres were at the center of Operation Dragoon, the invasion and liberation of Southern France during World War II. US Delta Force from 93rd Evac landed there. Just by the beach entrance to La Garonette there is a memorial of the beach landing honoring the US troops. The sailing centre is named La Batterie as it was the location of a German artillery battery.
Further to the east is the village San-Peïre sur mer that has grown gradually after WW2. This is really the centre of the destination with shops, restaurants, hotels, promenade, village beach and a town square with a Monday outdoor market, post and tourist office. Continuing eastwards there is a winding coastline with creeks, rocks and calanques versus Saint- Aygulf (Fréjus commune). There are numerous nature trails including a coastline trail leading to a 2000-year-old Roman fishpond. Many private houses are climbing up the mountain hills. However virtually all buildings – including hotels – keep a low profile to the contrary to locations further east on the French Riviera.
With nearly eight kilometers of beaches, coves and creeks, Les Issambres are a seaside resort Var popular with families and tourists. Located between the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Frejus, the city was already occupied and known at the time of the Romans.
In a wild and rich nature, the program is relaxed, with the thalassotherapy center, and the discovery of an important Mediterranean flora. This unique place in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is ideal for enjoying the relaxation and the famous regional cuisine in the world. Mediterranean fish, tarte tropézienne coming from nearby..., all delights are there to seduce the palate and cuisine. In a family atmosphere, visitors enjoy the stunning views of the Bougnon the neck or over the Bay of Saint-Tropez, while enjoying the many activities on offer.
Mediterranean flora is taking all its essence in Issambres with beautiful and unique natural sites of their kind. A stroll on the neck of Bougnon, overlooking the seaside resort, offers a breathtaking view on the Mediterranean coast and on the Bay of Saint-Tropez located nearby. The sandy beaches of the Bay of Bougnon offer many water sports to passing visitors. Scuba diving, sailing, jet skiing, sea fishing, are some of the proposed activities on the beach of Issambres. In summer, fireworks are also from these sandy beaches. Classified as an historic monument, marine pool of la Gaillarde is one of the traces of the Roman occupation in Provence. This long natural cove almost twenty meters once used for fishing, with technical traps and reservoirs.
Ideal to have a nice view of the coast of Issambres, the famous path of the customs along the most beautiful sites in the resort and you can admire from above the creeks and other creeks that dot the area. A thalassotherapy center offers various treatments for people in need of relaxation and well-being. Treatments based on sea water, jacuzzi or other massages are the site of the program.

Places to see in ( Sainte Maxime - France )
Sainte Maxime is a commune and city in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. I.e. on the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) in southeastern France 90 km (56 mi) west from Nice and 130 km (81 mi) east from Marseille. The small town is south facing at the northern shore of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. In the north the Massif des Maures mountain range protects it from cold winds of the Mistral. Sainte Maxime was founded around 1000 AD by the Monks from the Lérins Islands outside Cannes. They built a monastery and named the village after one of the Saints of their order - Maxime. Fishing was the mainstay for the inhabitants but during the early 19th century increasing amounts of lumber, cork, olive oil and wine was shipped to Marseilles and to Italy.
The village grew and in the 20th century it started to attract artists, poets and writers who enjoyed the climate, the beautiful surroundings and the azure blue water. In front of the old town you find the characteristic tower - La Tour Carrée - built by the monks in the early 16th century to protect the village from invaders. With an addition of a battery of cannons and with the Tour du Portalet in Saint Tropez the whole bay was protected. As late as in the beginning of the 19th century, Napoleon ordered a restoration of the battery while also adding cannons on the Lérins Islands. The tower is now a museum.
On August 15, 1944, the beach of Sainte Maxime was at the centre of Operation Dragoon, the invasion and liberation of the Southern France during World War II. Attack Force Delta, based around the 45th Division, landed at Sainte Maxime. There was fierce house to house fighting before the Germans were decimated and eventually surrendered. By the foot of the Harbour pier and by the beach La Garonette (far east in the commune), there are memorials at the respective landing places honoring the US troops. At the Garonette beach, but formally in Les Issambres, (Roquebrune-sur-Argens commune), the sailing centre is named La Batterie, as it was the location of a German artillery battery.
Nowadays, tourism is the largest source of revenue for Sainte Maxime, but the city remains lively all year round with 13 519 inhabitants (2007). There is the old town with shops, markets, restaurants, bars and cafés, opposite the harbour. On the pier, there are marine shops and an upscale restaurant. Here, there is also fast boat transportation with Les Bateaux Verts to Les Issambres, St Tropez and Port Grimaud. There is a shoreline promenade with parks, pine trees, boulodrome Prince Bertil, the tourist office and the city beaches, as well as a Casino with its own piece of white sand.
In addition to the city beaches, there are the Blue Flag supervised ones. On the west side, The Croisette has a sailing school. On the east side of the town are La Nartelle, La Plage des Eléphants and La Garonette (also called Val D'Esquieres), which all provide water-skiing and Jet-ski activities. In addition, there are several smaller beaches that are unsupervised. All adding up to 10 km of publicly accessible shoreline.

Places to see in ( Annecy - France ) Notre Dame de Liesse
Places to see in ( Annecy - France ) Notre Dame de Liesse
Liesse-Notre-Dame is a commune in the Aisne department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. In the Middle Ages, the village near Laon developed around the cult of the Black Virgin, known as Notre-Dame de Liesse. Ever since the twelfth century Liesse Notre Dame (Our Lady of Joy) has been a center of Marian pilgrimage. The basilica was built during the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries and probably replaced an earlier chapel.
According to ancient documents, the first shrine of Liesse was built by the pious Bartholomew of Vir, with the stones left over from the construction of Laon Cathedral. The portal and façade were constructed in the fifteenth century by Bishop of Laon, Charles of Luxembourg (1473-1519), son of the Count of Saint Pol, Constable of France under Louis XI. Formerly one of the portal stones were engraved with the inscription: As a monument of their piety and their gratitude to the Virgin Mary, this holy temple was built in 1134 by the knights of Eppes. It was rebuilt in 1384 and enlarged in 1480. In November 1568, the troops of the Protesant Prince of Orange looted the village and its church, and having broken the statues and removed the bells, set fire to the church, reducing the bell tower to ashes. Restoration commenced nine years later.
At a young age, Madame Acarie was brought to Liesse in 1572 by her parents and consecrated to Our Lady, as was the child Henri Boudon. It was a favorite shrine of Princess Henrietta Maria of France. Jean-Jacques Olier visited in 1632. In 1686, after Trinity Sunday, 1686, after Jean-Baptiste de La Salle and the Brothers took their first vows, they made a pilgrimage to Liesse, walking all through the night, and again pronounced the vows before at the statue of Our Lady of Joy above the main altar). The church is now a minor basilica. Benedict Labre made a pilgrimage to Liesse in 1770. Prior to the Revolution, pilgrimages supported the economy of the village. There were a number of hostelries to provide accommodations for pilgrims. The manufacture and sale of religious souvenirs was a dominant activity. Destroyed during the revolution, the shrine was later rebuilt.
Liesse was a favorite destination for royal pilgrimages, visited by Louis VII, Charles VI, Charles VII and others. Devotion to Our Lady of Joy spread throughout France, particularly to Normandy where there are a number of churches dedicated to Mary under this title. An annual pilgrimage used to be held in Aude to a is in Fleury sanctuary refounded in the seventeenth century by an archbishop of Narbonne named Louis Vervins. Our Lady of Liesse is also honored in Belgium, Canada, and Malta. Jesuits spread the devotion to Africa.
The Grand Marais consists of about twenty hectares of marshland with mainly bog ponds, wet wood and reed beds. The main uses of this marsh In the eighteenth century the march was mainly used for grazing and for cutting peat for heating. The Great Swamp is home to over 232 species of plants, birds and dragonflies native to Picardy. The local municipal council works with the Conservatory of Natural Sites of Picardie to preserve the site.
