Ladis - Tyrol - Austria TRAVEL
--------------------------------------------------------
The centre of Ladis is decorated with façade paintings, distinguishing itself from neighbouring villages by the large number of farms which have been maintained at Ladis. Ladis, both in summer and winter, is ideal for relaxing holidays in the countryside. Moreover you can enjoy cycling, e.g. with comfortable electronic bikes, or hiking along the scenic trails. Another highlight you might want to enjoy is a fabulous 6-course meal in a gondola at the neighbouring village of Fiss.
Highly recommendable: all guests get the “Super. Summer. Card” when arriving directly at their landlord, providing lots of reductions as well as the free use of the mountain funiculars or the hiking bus shuttle. Also for families this card is advantageous, as animation for children is offered for free. In winter, Ladis is, like its neighbouring villages Serfaus and Fiss, integrated into the skiing area Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, offering 212 km of ski slopes. This skiing area is by the way one of the most popular skiing areas of Tyrol such as Sölden and Ischgl.
Ladis has also got several sights to offer, e.g. its medical springs: since Middle Ages this village has been known for its sulfur and saline springs called “Oblader Sauerbrunn”. In 1833 in this place a hotel was built which in 1972 was destroyed by a fire. Today there is a guest house as well as a fountain, out of which you can bottle curative waters for personal use. Otherwise it is bottled and sold as “Tiroler Sauerbrunn”.
Our recommendation: Laudeck Castle is located in the north-east of the village and can be visited. Its residential tower was built around 1200 AD, the little great hall a little later. Up to the 16th century the castle served as administrative centre for the supreme court.

Pöstlingberg at Night - LINZ AUSTRIA TRAVEL
The Pöstlingberg is a 539 metres (1,768 ft) high hill on the left bank of the Danube in the city of Linz, Austria. It is a popular tourist destination, with a viewing platform over the city, and is the site of the Pöstlingberg pilgrimage church, and the Linz Grottenbahn.
The Pöstlingberg is reached from the city centre by line 50 of the Linz tramway, running over the Pöstlingbergbahn mountain tramway.
From the mid-18th century, the community of Pöstlingberg was a destination for pilgrims. A chapel was built there around 1720, and a church opened in 1748. From the end of the 18th Century, the mountain was increasingly frequented by hikers, especially after the summit area had been cleared for military reasons in 1809 and in the 1830s and revealed an impressive view. The construction of a railway was deemed worthwhile.

How hikers must conduct themselves around cows.
Rule 1: Never leave the path and climb over a fence.
Rule 2: Quickly go through gates and fences and close them.
Rule 3: Stay on the trail and do not go closer than necessary to the cows.
Rule 4: Where possible go around cows that obstruct the hiking trail, avoiding sudden movements.
Rule 5: Be mindful of cows with calves. Never try to pet calves.
Rule 6: Keep dogs on a leash and keep them calm.
Rule 7: When a cow attacks a dog, release the dog from its leash. The dog is faster than the cow. Never pick a dog up to protect it from a cow attack.
Rule 8: Never run away from a cow. Move away slowly and do not turn your back on them.
Rule 9: If a cow attacks you, make yourself big by raising your arms.
Rule 10: Follow all the above rules when hiking.

Lienz, East Tyrol - Austria HD Travel Channel
Lienz, the most important city of East Tyrol lies in the broad muzzle valley of the Isel into the Drava. The region was populated as early as 2,200 BC, later the Celts settled here. It experienced its first major upswing after the Romans had secured the northern border along the Danube by the Limes.
Today Lienz has a widely extending main square where you sit comfortably in front of restaurants or ice cream parlors and watch the hustle and bustle. The Liebburg, a former castle from the 17th century was converted to the Town Hall.
At the end of the square you see the Antoniuskirchl, now an Orthodox church for the Cossacks who remained in Lienz after the war. The Cossacks have experienced an unworthy fate. After the war in which they fought on the German side, despite promise the British handed them over to the Soviets.
Roughly 3,000 people were killed, many people prefered suicide. Infants were thrown by their mothers in the torrential river Drava before the mothers followed. Almost all survivors were deported to Siberia. A little Cossack cemetery reminds of these cruel days.
In the Carinthian road we stopped briefly in front of Tyrol's oldest wayside shrine from the 14th century.

Jahrhundert.
