Benxi is a prefecture-level city located in the east of Liaoning province, People's Republic of China, south-southeast of the provincial capital Shenyang. Its population was 1,709,538 at the 2010 census whom 1,011,377 lived in the built-up area made of 3 urban districts . It was founded as a metallurgical center in 1915. Benxi Iron and Steel Company is the largest employer in the city, and used to be the fourth-largest steel company in China. The second-largest industry in Benxi is coal mining. Benxi has pollution problems due to steel production and coal mining. During the disaster of Air France flight AF447, Benxi Iron and Steel Company lost 5 employees, including the executive Chen Chiping who was the wife of Liaoning's provincial governor.

Our first day (and first impressions of China!)
We are up at 7am and at the drop off point by 730am.

Breakfast was in the taxi. Not sure what it was but it was nice.
Kind of like a Chinese dumpling with meat and vegetables in but flat and round. Tasty either way.

So anyway, we were told that we were going for a walk.
This.. was no walk. This wasn't a hike. This was a climb.

Climbing up the side of a mountain in trainers (sneakers/ plimsolls) and wearing 3 day straight jogging bottoms in 30 degree heat and humidity. Today was a hard day.

The views made it worth it (in the next vlog) but man, oh, man.. it was a struggle.

The road became a path, the path became a trail and the trail became a slippery slope.

Climbing over rocks and pulling one another up and over boulders at parts. It was too hands on to film on my Canon 70D DSLR vlogging set up. We were on hands and knees by the end of it, clawing at rocks and tree roots, hoping that they would stay solid to the ground and support our climb.. a few rocks came loose and branches snapped.

A few close calls to say the lease but it was an incredible experience that you probably would not get if you were to follow the tourist routes and not gone with the locals.

The Qianshan National Park is a mountainous national park in Liaoning Province, China, 17 km by road, south east of Anshan.(Where we were staying)

The park is in the Qianshan Mountains (Chinese: 千山山脉), named after itself, that extends from the Changbai Mountains in the China-North Korea border, westward to Liaoyang, then southward to Dalian in the southern corner of Liaoning Province.

We are somewhere in the Qianshan National Park!

In the last episode we climbed up the side of a mountain and we start this vlog where 'that one' left off..

The views on top of the thousand mountains (China) is absolutely incredible!

You can see why they are called 1000 mountains (Qianshan)..
There is quite literally thousands of mountains.. they keep going! Wherever you look.. the mountain range goes on forever!

Located at the southernmost end of Guangzhou and on the West Bank of Humen Waterway of Pearl River, it is the convergence place of Xijiang, Beijiang and Dongjiang rivers; facing Dongguan across the river in the east; bordering Zhongshan City and Shunde District of Foshan City in the west; connecting with Panyu District of Guangzhou with Shawan Waterway in the north; and lining up with Lingdingyang District at the mouth of the Pearl River in the south.
