Lidice is a village in the Kladno District of the Czech Republic, 22 kilometres northwest of Prague. It is built near the site of the previous village of the same name, which was completely destroyed in June 1942 on orders from Adolf Hitler and Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in reprisal for the assassination of Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich.The village is first mentioned in writing in 1318. In World War II, in Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, the Lidice massacre was a complete destruction of the village of Lidice, in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, now in the Czech Republic, in June 1942 on orders from Adolf Hitler and Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler. In reprisal for the assassination of Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich in the late spring of 1942, all 173 males over 15 years of age from the village were executed on 10 June 1942. Another 11 men who were not in the village were arrested and executed soon afterwards, along with several others already under arrest. The 184 women and 88 children were deported to concentration camps; a few children considered racially suitable for Germanisation were handed over to SS families and the rest were sent to the Chełmno extermin...

Loket Castle is a 12th-century Gothic style castle about 12 kilometres from Karlovy Vary on a massive rock in the town of Loket, Karlovarský kraj, Czech Republic. It is surrounded on three sides by the Ohře river. Once known as the Impregnable Castle of Bohemia, because of its thick walls, it is one of the oldest and most valuable historical stone castles in the Czech lands. It is administered by the Loket Castle Foundation since 1993 and preserved today as a museum and national monument. Every year the town plays host to an Opera festival, with performances by the Czech National Opera in an outdoor amphitheatre with the castle as a backdrop, and is also host for the Czech motocross grand prix.

Theresienstadt was a hybrid concentration camp and ghetto established by the SS during World War II in the fortress town Terezín, located in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . Theresienstadt served two main purposes: it was simultaneously a waystation to the extermination camps, and a retirement settlement for elderly and prominent Jews to mislead their communities about the Final Solution. Lidice (en allemand : Liditz) est une commune du district de Kladno, dans la région de région de Bohême-Centrale, en République tchèque. Sa population s'élevait à 563 habitants en 2018.

Le village est entièrement détruit par les nazis durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, en représailles à l'Opération Anthropoid, ayant débouché sur l'attentat dirigé, le 27 mai 1942, à Prague, contre Reinhard Heydrich, le protecteur adjoint du Reich en Bohême-Moravie, qui succombe des suites de ses blessures le 4 juin suivant.

L'attentat, perpétré par Jozef Gabčík et Jan Kubiš, deux agents tchécoslovaques formés en Angleterre, qui à notamment tué, le directeur du RSHA, Reinhard Heydrich un des fonctionnaires les plus haut placés du Troisième Reich, suscite un sentiment de vengeance de la part des nazis, qui s'en prennent au village de Lidice qui, croyaient-ils, avait hébergé les deux hommes. Ces derniers furent trahis par un troisième membre, Karel Čurda.

La reconstruction de Lidice débute en 1947 sous l'égide des dirigeants tchécoslovaques de l'époque. Le nouveau village est situé à l'ouest de son emplacement initial , lequel a laissé la place à un mémorial.
