Lithonia is a city in eastern DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The city's population was 1,924 at the 2010 census. Lithonia is in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Lithonia means city/town of stone. Lithonia is in the heart of the Georgian granite-quarrying and viewing region, hence the name of the town, from the Greek λίθος lithos, for stone. The huge nearby granite dome, Stone Mountain, is composed largely of a rock called Lithonia gneiss, a form of granite. The area has a history of rock quarries. Arabia Mountain is the northern of two peaks in the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. A low saddle separates it from Bradley Mountain, several hundred feet to its south. The two form a monadnock. The peak is 955 feet above sea level, rising 172 feet above Arabia Lake reservoir. Bradley Mountain is closer to the visitor trails than Arabia Mountain and is often mis-identified by visitors as Arabia Mountain.

Best Places To Hike In Georgia - Indian Trail Palisades Chattahoochee River National Park

My favorite spot in Atlanta to hike is the Indian Trail Palisades in The Chattahoochee River National Park. Hands down, if you have not been here before, you need to invest two - three hours on this trail. It leads to Rapids, Rocky Cascades, Ruins, Overlooks. Best place to hike in Atlanta, GA Period!
