The Netherlands from above - E8/10 - Where is the danger?
This series shows The Netherlands from a spectacular perspective. Through data visualizations, impressive aerial images and portraits of people on the ground, we show who we are and how time changes and has changed the country.
We're surrounded by hundreds of threats every single day. Diseases and accidents, but also cyber attacks that knock out all our computers, or Russian Tupulevs entering our airspace.

Death rituals of the Dutch - The Netherlands from above
How does our search for legacy and meaningfulness look like now that we live even further in denial? In Calvinist Netherlands, death was a taboo topic for a very long time. However, at the cemetery that has been run by a family for generations, death is as common as the cheese sandwich for lunch. The secularization in the Netherlands continues, but that does not mean that our quest for singing and spirituality ends. Relatives can now make a tattoo of the ashes of their dead. We are looking for something that gives meaning to our lives, and safeguards our legacy. This can be a great project, a pompous building in the landscape, but also a young tree planted in a newly constructed forest, in memory of a loved one. And if we do not care about “something” or about spirituality, we can always surrender ourselves to the skating madness that takes over the whole of Holland in the winter.
The Netherlands from above shows us a country from a spectacular perspective. From the sky it is possible to see how the Netherlands changes through the seasons, and how in parallel they form the determining moments of our own life cycle. Through data visuals, impressive aerial images and portraits of people on the ground, the second series of the Netherlands from above outlines an image of how time has changed our country and how we move in it. The way we live from day to day, and from generation to generation in this country reflects our resilient mentality. The Netherlands from above season 2 tells us the story of seeing and taking opportunities, falling and rising up again, reinventing the wheel again and again. Where the first series was an ode to the makeable Netherlands, this second series is an ode to our resilience.

Himba tribe - Northwest Namibia
We visited a Himba tribe village in Namibia, in the area of Epupa falls, near the Angolan border, in the Kunene region. They are the most amazing ethnic group in Namibia, semi-nomadic shepherds related to the herero. The himba are the only group of natives of Namibia that still preserve the ancestral lifestyle.
Due to the harsh climatic conditions of the region, the himba have managed to remain isolated and have not been heavily influenced by other cultures.

Debido a las duras condiciones climáticas de la región, los himba han logrado mantenerse aislados y no han sido muy influenciados por otras culturas.
