Don't forget about the castles along the North Coast 500 route there's the famous Eilean Donan Castle, the Castley of Mey, Strome Castle, Glenrobin Castle, and many castle hotels to stay in as well.
And there is plenty of wildlife to see. A highlight of our tour was Reraig Forest tour to see the deer, stags and sheep on the property. Plus the wildlife of Duncansby Head where migrating and nesting sea birds soar through the air.

The Lochalsh area on the north west coast of Scotland is beautiful at any time of year and in any weather conditions. But when the sun shines in autumn it is stunning. We spent a week in a wooden lodge near Duirinish near Plockton......and meandered !
Probably the best view from a house to be in Scotland !!!

What to see on the NC500 Coastline in Scotland
Visiting Scotland for the second time in less than two years allowed me to delve a little more into the adventures available. One of the more interesting road trips that locals are taking more often is along the NC500 Coastline. I wasn’t able to complete the entire road trip of the Upper Scottish Highlands, but definitely would love to return to complete this trip in its entirety. Here is what to see on the NC500 Coastline in Scotland should you venture to do as locals do, and take this road trip in the most beautiful country I have seen.

Falls of Shin Waterfalls Sutherland, Scotland
Sadly I just found out that two month after I took the Video on the Monday the 20th of May 2013 that the visitor centre only a short walk to the Falls from there burned down.
Please don't let this put you of going there, as it is a beautiful waterfall and between May and November you can watch the leaping Atlantic Salmon attempting to head up stream to breed. There are lots of walking and cycle patch and lots of wildlife like otters, Highland forest birds and if you're fortunate and patient, the elusive Pine Martin can also be seen.
I wish them all the best to be able to rebuilt the centre in the near future.
