Loosdrecht is a town in the municipality of Wijdemeren, North Holland, Netherlands with a population of about 8,600 inhabitants.Loosdrecht consists of two small villages: Nieuw-Loosdrecht and Oud-Loosdrecht. Keukenhof , also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens, situated in Lisse, South Holland, Netherlands. According to the official website for the Keukenhof Park, approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 hectares .Keukenhof is located in South Holland, south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam. It is accessible by bus from the train stations of Haarlem, Leiden and Schiphol. It is located in an area called the Dune and Bulb Region . Keukenhof is open annually from mid-March to mid-May. Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe is a Dutch national park in the province of Gelderland near the cities of Ede, Wageningen, Arnhem and Apeldoorn. It is approximately 55 square kilometers in area, consisting of heathlands, sand dunes, and woodlands. It is situated in the Veluwe, the area of the largest terminal moraine in the Netherlands. Most of the landscape of the park and the Veluwe was created during the last Ice Age. The alternating sand dune areas and heathlands may have been caused by human utilization of the surrounding lands. The park forms one of the largest continuous nature reserves in the Netherlands.

Boating Holiday in Holland. Boats and canals are a way of life in Holland, and boating on Dutch waterways lets you see the real Holland. Travel the landscape of famous painters, admire traditional windmills, use the many waterside cycle routes, and moor at neatly kept marinas.
Cruising is very relaxed from spring tulip time to autumn, with many locks left open throughout the summer months, and the occasional lift bridge a good place to meet fellow travellers. Moor close to the many canal-side bars and cafes offering good food and traditional Dutch hospitality.
The region in north Holland has many lakes for watersports. From our Warmond cruiser base in South Holland with its famous ‘watergate’ visit towns and coastal villages such as Haarlem, Gouda or Delft, and Leiden.
In Amsterdam you can moor in the marina a ferry ride across the ship canal from the central station. You can cruise your boat through the city canals, but care is needed, plus permit purchase. Or take one of the many canal cruise trips. Maybe take the regular train to Amsterdam from Weesp, about 10 minutes by rail.
North of Amsterdam you can cruise to Edam, famous for its distinctive cheese.
The famous Keukenhof Gardens are west of Amsterdam, near Haarlem, with millions of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and other bulbs flowering in Spring.
South from Amsterdam cruise the River Vecht past ancient townhouses lining the canal through Loosdrecht to Utrecht. Moor at the quaysides or by the cathedral (limited height) and climb the 465 steps in the Dom Tower. Further on reach Gouda where the marina is in the middle of the old town.
The Dutch waterways give you many miles of lock-free cruising, with many opportunities for cycling in the flat countryside. A boating holiday is the best way to see Holland.

Les canaux d'Amsterdam ont valu à la capitale des Pays-Bas, son surnom de « Venise du Nord » ; ils s'étendent en effet sur un total de plus de cent kilomètres, avec quelque 1 500 ponts qui les traversent, reliant environ 90 îles.
Les trois principaux canaux sont le Herengracht, le Prinsengracht, et le Keizersgracht. Construits aux xviie siècle pendant l'Âge d'or néerlandais, ils forment ce que l'on appelle la « courbure d'or ».
Le 14 juin 2010, les canaux d'Amsterdam ont obtenu le label patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco sous l'intitulé « Zone des canaux concentriques du xviie siècle à l'intérieur du Singelgracht ».

Herengracht :

Le Herengracht traduit par « canal des Patriciens » est le canal en partant du centre-ville qui se trouve le plus à l'intérieur parmi les trois principaux canaux. Il est prolongé à l'est par le Nieuwe Herengracht et se jette au nord-ouest dans le Brouwersgracht.
Il est très célèbre pour sa « courbure d'or » (Gouden Bocht) entre les ponts de la Leidsestraat et de la Vijzelstraat. Pour cela, il a souvent été représenté en peinture au xviie siècle notamment par le peintre Gerrit Berckheyde qui en a réalisa toute une série.
Les principales curiosités de ce canal sont Bijbels Museum (le musée biblique), le Kattenkabinet qui est un musée consacré aux chats, le Musée du Sac, le Museum Willet-Holthuysen, le Jardin botanique d'Amsterdam.

Naarden, Netherlands

Naarden was granted its city rights in 1300 and later developed into a fortressed garrison town. The Saint-Vitus church is a gothic basilica built in the 14e/ 15e century. The church came into the hands of the Protestants in 1576. Of great importance are the 16th century painted timber vaults. The Town Hall dates from 1601 and is a good example of Netherlandish Renaissance.
