Lovosice is a small town in northern Bohemia, the western part of the Czech Republic. Geographic coordinates of Lovosice are: latitude 50° 51' and longitude: 14° 05'. Lovosice is located on the left bank of the Labe River, at the northern border of the Labe lowlands and at the southern foot of Bohemian Highlands . The closest mountain is Lovoš. Loket Castle is a 12th-century Gothic style castle about 12 kilometres from Karlovy Vary on a massive rock in the town of Loket, Karlovarský kraj, Czech Republic. It is surrounded on three sides by the Ohře river. Once known as the Impregnable Castle of Bohemia, because of its thick walls, it is one of the oldest and most valuable historical stone castles in the Czech lands. It is administered by the Loket Castle Foundation since 1993 and preserved today as a museum and national monument. Every year the town plays host to an Opera festival, with performances by the Czech National Opera in an outdoor amphitheatre with the castle as a backdrop, and is also host for the Czech motocross grand prix.

This is part 2 of 5 showing a driver's view of Czech Hwy. 4 in the Czech Republic between Prague and the German border. The date is July 5, 2017 and we are headed towards Passau, Germany to begin our Viking Danube Waltz Cruise. This was a generally scenic drive and I am thrilled to have been able to capture as much of it from the front seat of the bus as I did. The 4 lane part of this road is Motorway D4 while the 2 lane part is just regular Czech Hwy. 4.
