Phantasialand is a theme park in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany that attracts approximately 1.75 million visitors annually. The park was opened in 1967 by Gottlieb Löffelhardt and Richard Schmidt. Although starting as a family-oriented park, Phantasialand has also added thrill rides, especially during recent years. Furthermore, following the example of Europa-Park, they have decided to attract business customers beside the regular ones, calling it Business to Pleasure.Among the park's thrill rides is Taron , Black Mamba and a themed Mine Train roller coaster called Colorado Adventure, which runs among some mountains in the park's Wild West section and was opened by Michael Jackson.

The Marksburg is a castle above the town of Braubach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is one of the principal sites of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress was used for protection rather than as a residence for royal families. It has a striking example of a bergfried designed as a butter-churn tower. Of the 40 hill castles between Bingen am Rhein and Koblenz the Marksburg was the only one which was never destroyed.

The Externsteine [ˈɛkstɐnʃtaɪnə] is a distinctive sandstone rock formation located in the Teutoburg Forest, near the town of Horn-Bad Meinberg in the Lippe district of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The formation is a tor consisting of several tall, narrow columns of rock which rise abruptly from the surrounding wooded hills. In a popular tradition going back to an idea proposed to Hermann Hamelmann in 1564, the Externsteine are identified as a sacred site of the pagan Saxons, and the location of the Irminsul idol reportedly destroyed by Charlemagne; there is however no archaeological evidence that would confirm the site's use during the relevant period. The stones were used as the site of a hermitage in the Middle Ages, and by at least the high medieval period were the ...

Unser heuriger Sommerurlaub führte uns wieder mal nach Deutschland. Diesmal ging es in den Westen, genauer gesagt in das Bundesland Nordrhein-Westfalen mit Schwerpunkt Ruhrgebiet. Unser Quartier befand sich in Oberhausen - von dort steuerten wir alle interessanten Punkte des Ruhrpotts und Umgebung an. Dabei legten wir rund 4100 km mit unserem (neuen) Auto zurück, machten 652 Fotos und über 1,5 Stunden Video.

Old Town of Regensburg - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Old Town of Regensburg is a beautiful and bustling UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's considered to be the largest and best-preserved medieval town in Germany, and is home to many fascinating and interesting buildings including a cathedral, a 12th-century stone bridge, one of the world's oldest bratwurst kitchens, Tuscan-style tower houses, and much more besides! We had a fascinating day wandering around and getting to know the place. Enjoy!
