Exploring East Java - Ep 2: Tumpak Sewu

In this series, we travel around East Java, Indonesia in search of the best adventure spots. In this episode, we focus on Tumpak Sewu waterfall. This has been called by many people as Indonesia's Best Waterfall.

Obviously, that's just an opinion, but this place sure is incredible!

Tumpak Sewu is a massive artwork of nature, but that's not the only waterfall in this area. At the base, it's also very close to a set of falls called Goa Tetes.

In the next episode, we travel to the city of Probolingo and we visit Mt Bromo, an active volcano, and another magical waterfall that we have some trouble finding.

Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, Indonesia in 4K (Ultra HD)

Mount Bromo is an active volcano in the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park on the island of Java, Indonesia. The view of the volcano sitting inside the 10 km wide Tengger caldera, and Mount Semeru behind, sending smoky clouds up every 20 minutes, is considered one of the most scenic volcano views in the world.

In the video: Sunrise views from the top of the nearby viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan; descending from the Tengger Crater rim and crossing Tengger caldera; views from the crater rim of Mount Bromo.

Jakarta Durian. Good?

In this video, I had just walked outside and found it to be pouring rain. So, I bought a durian outside of Gaja Mada Plaza mall in Jakarta Indonesia. I was immediately excited about the durian ice cream for 10,000rp. Then I got excited to buy a fresh durian from the many piles of different varieties. They had Medan durian, and much more. I ended up choosing one for 100,000rp and sat down to eat it with my bare hands. I washed my hands with the rain water. I am a fruit lover. I love fruit. Yes, it was absolutely delicious.

Watu Ulo Beach - Jember

Watu Ulo beach is one of Jember tourism objects, and located about 45 KM from Jember city, East Java and lies on the Indonesian ocean.

It is called Watu Uloor snake stone by the natives because they believe that in the past there was a snake that was becoming a spirit among the society. After becoming a spirit, it became a stone resembling a snake, sticking into the sea with its body lying on the land.

During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese soldiers made fortresses which were used for fortifying against the attacking enemies and now some of the fortresses also become the tourist sites. Beside the Japanese fortress, there is also a bat cave inhabited by thousands of bats. The visitors can cross the sandy shore to get to the cave. The lonely cave is often used for meditation by visitors.

Currently, there are two ceremonies that being held at Watu Ulo beach area; which is Pekan Raya Watu Ulo that held every 1 Syawal and Larung Sesaji Watu Ulo beach, held on 7 Syawal and became one of the traditions and entertainment for people of Jember and surrounding areas. Those ceremonies are such a thanksgiving ceremonial to the god by giving offerings and kinds related.
