Lumut, The Gateway to Pangkor & Marina Islands │ Perak, Malaysia
Explore Malaysia with TravadLife's video guide, Places to Visit, Food to Eat, Where to Eat and Things to Do.
Lumut is a coastal town in Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia. It is situated about 84 km from Ipoh and it is the gateway to Pangkor Island and Marina Island. Lumut can be the alternate destination to stay-over before/after you visit the popular Pangkor Island. You can also do a road trip to Lumut while playing your Pokemon Go around the Waterfront and The Rahmat Maritime Museum Park. At night, you may hunt for many local foods at the Pasar Malam (night market) located in the town of Lumut. The accommodation in Lumut is rather less expensive than those in Pangkor Island. In this trip, we stayed at the Mornington Hotel and we find it to be an affordable price of the hotel.
Places in this video:
- Lumut Waterfront
- The Rahmat Maritime Museum Park at Lumut (nearby with Lumut Waterfront), to see the historical about the army ship
- Teluk Senangin (Beach) *good spot for family, friends, and love one to chill by beach and enjoy the beautiful sunset
- Lumut Night Market (Pasar Malam) located in the town of Lumut

Sitiawan and Teluk Batik Beach, Perak Malaysia One Day Trip [Small Girl Big World]
In this video, follow me to Sitiawan and Teluk Batik in Perak Malaysia for one day fun. Sitiawan is located in Manjung District in State of Perak. This town is not a tourist town and normally local Malaysia will come during the weekend for some food and spend some times is the nearby Teluk Batik Beach.
One of the main attraction of Sitiawan is the Tua Pek Kong temple. It is one of the biggest temple in Malaysia and it is about more than 100 years old. It is well maintained and undergo expansion. This temple is facing the Straits of Melaka therefore the guest are able to have a fantastic panaroma view of the Straits. In the temple, you can find a lot of skillfully crafted Buddhist god and goddess statue, koi pond, very picturesque garden and praying hall.
If you are in Sitiawan, do not miss the local delicacy; the Kampung Koh Loh Mee and Kampua Mee. It was famous locally due to the springy hand make noodle. Both Loh Mee and Kampua Mee uses same noodle but they were prepared differently. Loh Mee is drenched with thick flavour of broth and taste can be further enhance by adding vinegar. Kampua noodle meanwhile is the dry version with soy source all over the noodles with slices of barbecue pork. This is a must try Sitiawan food.
Next is the Teluk Batik Beach. This is one of the most surprising good and clean beach. Though some rubbish still can be seen. However this hidden gem is only known among the nearby local as this beach is not famous at all. Anyway, at this beach you can see the most authentic way of life of local Malaysian.

When you’re ready to embrace a vacation punctuated by tranquility and warm, tropical breezes, come to Pangkor Laut.
Located just a mile and a half off the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Pangkor Laut is a small, privately owned island paradise. It’s just a 40-minute ride via boat from the mainland. Once you arrive, you’re practically guaranteed to leave your cares behind. With its lush rainforest and quiet, pristine beaches, Pangkor Laut sightseeing almost always involves relaxing amidst the beauty of nature.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the island’s lone accommodation. When you stroll through Pangkor Laut Resort, you’ll see a place designed to blend in with its natural surroundings. Stay in a suite or a villa, or book a night in one of the small houses that stand on stilts over the warm waters of the Malacca Strait.
You won’t find wild casinos or a raucous nightlife as you tour Pangkor Laut. Instead, you’ll indulge in spa treatments, enjoy five-star food at its restaurants, and hike through the rainforest on carefully selected trails. Whether you wish to embrace a vacation of ultimate solitude or desire to be waited on hand and foot, Pangkor Laut will make it happen.

Lumut town, Perak, Malaysia - Sept 2017. Arround Lumut town on weekend.
Visited Lumut again. A short weekend getaway and shot my second video on Lumut.
Lumut is a coastal town (population 31,880) in the state of Perak, Malaysia, situated about 84 km from Ipoh, 12 km from the town of Sitiawan and it is the gateway to Pangkor Island. It is noted for seashell and coral handicrafts. This once little-known fishing town has since become the home base of the Royal Malaysian Navy and the site of the biggest naval shipbuilder in Malaysia, Boustead Naval Shipyard.
Lumut in Malay means moss, lichen, or seaweed. In its early days, the beach was said to be rich in moss, so the local people called it Lumut. Lumut jetty is the staging-off point to offshore islands, including Pangkor Island and Marina Island.

Pangkor Island - Tourist Attractions in Malaysia
Pulau Pangkor is an island off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia, reached by ferry either from the Lumut old jetty or from Marina Island jetty both located in Lumut (a small coastal town that links to Ipoh through Sitiawan). It has a land area of only 8 square kilometers, and a population of approximately 25,000 islanders. It is promoted as a low-key tourist destination by the Malaysian government, but fishing, seafood and other fishing-related products remain major industries.
The main attractions in Pangkor Island are the beaches. Other attractions include:
Pangkor Town
Fishing Villages
