2. Hawks Nest State ParkAnsted Hawks Nest State Park is located on 370 acres in Fayette County near Ansted, West Virginia. The park's clifftop overlook along U.S. Route 60 provides a scenic vista of the New River, some 750 feet below. The hydro-electric project tunnel that passes underneath nearby Gauley Mountain was the scene of the tragic Depression-era Hawks Nest Tunnel disaster. The original building, now a gift shop and museum, was built as a Civilian Conservation Corps project. The park lodge was constructed in 1967 by The Architects Collaborative . The Clarion Hotel Morgan was built in 1925. The hotel was built with a two story ballroom. In 1999 the hotel was rehabilitated and a restaurant was added on the 8th floor.
The hotel is described as on of West Virginia's most haunted hotels. Paranormal and psychic conferences have been held here. It is reported that a young girl who drowned in a hotel bath tub in Room 314 haunts this establishments.
The Hotel was attached to the Warner Theater until 2010 when it closed. The theater was said to have been haunted also.
