Lysekil is a locality and the seat of Lysekil Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had about 7,600 inhabitants in 2018. Situated on the south tip of Stångenäs peninsula at the mouth of Gullmarn fjord, it has two nature reserves. Originally a small fishing village, it developed into a town for fishing industries, commercial shipping and trade during the 18th and 19th centuries. Stone industry based on the red Bohus granite from quarries in the town, was also vital to Lysekil up until the 1950s. 1. Stangehuvud Naturreservat Lysekil
Stångehuvud is a nature reserve in Lysekil Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It is located on the south tip of Stångenäset peninsula, adjacent the town of Lysekil. The reserve is known for its red Bohus granite. The granite was formed about 920 million years ago and the cliffs were later shaped by the ice during the last glacial period.Formerly an area for quarrying granite, the area was bought and preserved by Calla Curman at the beginning of the 19th century. She donated it to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and in 1982, the nature reserve was created.

The Göta Canal is a Swedish canal constructed in the early 19th century. It formed the backbone of a waterway stretching some 614 km , linking a number of lakes and rivers to provide a route from Gothenburg on the west coast to Söderköping on the Baltic Sea via the river Göta älv and the Trollhätte kanal, through the large lakes Vänern and Vättern. The canal itself is 190 km long, of which 87 km were dug or blasted, with a width varying between 7–14 m and a maximum depth of about 3 m . It has 58 locks and can accommodate vessels up to 32 m long, 7 m wide and 2.8 m in draft. Göta Canal is a sister canal of Caledonian Canal in Scotland, which was also constructed by Thomas Telford.

Läckö Castle is a medieval castle in Sweden, located on Kållandsö island on Lake Vanern, 25 kilometers north of Lidköping in Västergötland. Brynolf Algotsson, Bishop of Skara, laid the foundations for a fortified castle in 1298 originally as a fort that consisted of two or three houses surrounded by a wall. After a fire during the 1470s, the fort was expanded by bishop Brynolf Gerlachsson. After the reformation in 1527, King Gustav Vasa took possession. Field Marshal Jacob Pontusson De la Gardie was granted the property in 1615. Field Marshal de la Gardie embarked on an extensive building spree, including the third floor of the keep.
