In fact, in Michigan, you are never more than a few hours from a Great Lake, of which the state has four. Apple trees, blueberry farms, and cherry festivals are notorious in Michigan.

Let's Visit Mackinaw City, MI
Mackinaw City, MI is my first stop in my 3 day, 2 night road trip to the Upper Peninsula. Mackinaw City is at the northernmost tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The two peninsulas are connected by the 5 mile long Mackinac Bridge which can be seen in the end of the video. I show the downtown shopping area of Mackinaw City, the Mackinaw City Crossings, and the bridge itself with views of Mackinac Island and Lake Huron (the Straits of Mackinac to be specific).
I would like to head back to the Mackinac area in the future to cover Mackinac Island, the Mackinac Point lighthouse, and Fort Michilimackinac.

It wasn't until the onset of the twentieth century that things like admiring nature became fashionable in the United States. People like president Theodore Roosevelt, and author John Muir, help to popularize setting aside public lands for the preservation of wildlife and other natural resources. Because of this foresight, Michigan's residents and visitors can enjoy one of the nation's premier park systems.
Hard To Pronounce Michigan Places | Pure Michigan
Have you ever wondered how Michigan was named Michigan? Before colonization, the now Great Lakes State was home to at least eight Native American tribes throughout the land, one of which being the Ojibwe Indians. The Ojibwe were the first people to openly interact with the French in Michigan, trading furs and knowledge of the area for guns and goods. Through translation, the state of Michigan was named after the Ojibwe Indian word “Michigama,” which means “great lake” or “land surrounded by water.”
With this in mind, we invite you to take a watch some Michiganders stumble their way through some uniquely-named destinations found across the Great Lakes State. Test yourself and learn the correct pronunciations here:

Explore Brevort Lakes - Mackinac County - Michigan
Lakes are abundant in the U.P., but the natural beauty and serenity of the two Brevort Lakes set them apart from others. Tucked away in the woods near the Lake Michigan shore and only a few miles down the road west of St. Ignace and the Mackinaw Straits, they provide the visitor a taste of the deep woods experience without the hassle of the crowds of the area or a long trail to get there. If in desperate need of a serious, relaxing getaway, visiting the Brevort Lakes area could be the answer.
The two lakes, Little and Big Lake Brevort, also known as the Brevoort Lake Recreation Area; are located near the town of Brevort, on U.S. 2. The area is filled with attractions for the traveler and has historical significance. The Brevort Lakes provide an inexpensive and pleasant base camp for trips to the Straits or the Soo.
