Venna lake is one of the major tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra state in India. The lake was constructed by Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, who was Raja of Satara in the year 1842. The lake is surrounded by trees on all sides. Tourists can enjoy a boat ride over the lake or a horse ride next to the lake. A number of small eateries line the banks of the lake. The Mahabaleshwar city market and the S.T. bus stand is about 2 km from the lake and makes for a nice walk during the day. Most tour operators include the Venna lake in their tours. Most buses, private vehicles will stop at the Venna lake on their way to Mahabaleshwar on request.

The Mahabaleshwar Temple, Gokarna is a 4th-century CE Hindu temple located in Gokarna, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka state, India which is built in the classical Dravidian architectural style. It is a site of religious pilgrimage. The temple faces the Karwar city beach on the Arabian Sea in which Hindu pilgrims cleanse before visiting the temple for worship. The temple is considered as holy as the Shiva temple at Varanasi or Kāśi in North India on the banks of the Ganges River. Hence, the Mahabaleshwar temple, Gokarna is known as the Dakshin Kasi . The temple deifies the Pranalinga also called Atmalinga or Shiva Linga In legend, it is said that the deity of the temple will bestow immense blessings to devotees, even to those who only glimpse it.

1. Pratapgarh Fort :
Pratapgad literally 'Valour Fort' is a large fort located in Satara district, in the Western Indianstate of Maharashtra. Significant as the site of the Battle of Pratapgad, the fort is now a popular tourist destination. Pratapgad fort is located 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Poladpur and 23 kilometres (14 mi) west of Mahabaleshwar, a popular hill station in the area. The fort stands 1,080 metres (3,540 ft) above sea level and is built on a spur which overlooks the road between the villages of Par and Kinesvar.
2. Venna Lake :
Venna lake is one of the major tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra state in India. The lake was constructed by Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, who was Raja of Satara in the year 1842. The lake is surrounded by trees on all sides.
3. Mahabaleshwar Hill Station :
At 1,372 meters above sea level, around Lake Venna, is the highest hill station in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. Mahabaleshwar is one of the most spectacular and the largest of Maharashtra hill-stations. Mahabaleshwar in Sanskrit means God of Great Power.
4. Krishnabai Temple :
The origins of rivers have always been considered sacred for their ability to give life to every being around and along the paths the rivers take. One of the lesser-known temples, Krishnabai Temple, is considered to be the origin of Krishna River. Overshadowed by the famous Panchganga temple, which is meeting point of 5 rivers Koyna, Krishna, Venna, Savitri and Gayatri, the nearby Krishnabai temple takes a bit of walking off-track to arrive at.
5. Elephants Head Point :
Elephant’s Head Point, also known as Needle’s Point, lies at the extreme end of the mountain range beyond Lodwick Point. Resembling to the elephant’s head, this extended ridge is the most popular tourist spot in Mahabaleshwar that offers the stunning views of the Sahyadri mountain range.
6. Arthurs Seat :
Arthur's Seat is a popular tourist destination, which is located 12 km away from Mahabaleshwar. This place is named after Arthur Malet, who was the first man to build a house at this point. The point is perched at the height of 1470 m above the sea level and 600 m above Konkan coastal strip.
7. Lingmala Waterfall :
Located at a distance of 6 kms from Mahabaleshwar, the Lingmala Waterfall can be reached via the Mahabaleshwar-Pune road. The forest bungalow of Lingmala is situated near the falls. The water here launches from a height of approximately 600 feet. The best time to visit Lingmala falls is between July and December.The clear water of Lingmala waterfalls cascades into the Venna Lake during monsoon season.
8. Lodwick Point :
Lodwick Point is a vantage point, which is situated about 5 km west of Mahabaleshwar. Originally known as Sydney Point, this point was rechristened in the honour of General Lodwick, who was the first British officer to climb the hill. To honour his achievement, his son erected a memorial pole of about 25 ft. At the base of this monument, the head of the General is sculptured in marble.

The top 10 best places to visit in Mahabaleshwa, India.Mahabaleshwa is a small town and municipal council in the Satara district within the Indian state of Maharashtra.
It's a beautiful hill station that's located along the Sahyadri mountain range. There's a beautiful evergreen forest which is fairly rare to find in India.
As this is such a popular area to visit I decided to put together this video of the best places to visit in Mahabaleshwa.

1. Parsi Point:
If you're looking for beautiful views of the Dhom Dam backwaters then this is the place to head to. You can see the Krishna Valley in all its glory.
2. Mapro Garden:
Found in the hill station of Panchgani, Maharashtra, India, this garden park is known for their strawberry produce. It's a very popular tourist location located in the village of Gureghar. It's run by the Mapro food company.
3. Lodwick Point:
Another beautiful vantage point to visit. It was previously known as Sydney point.
4. Lingmala Waterfall:
You can find this waterfall via the Mahabaleshaw-Pune road. It's best to visit between the months of July and December.
5. Arthurs Seat:
At a height of 1470m this point is a popular tourism destination. It's a beautiful location to visit with breathtaking views, but it can get a little overcrowded.
6. Elephants Head Point:
This area can be found beyond Lodwick Point. It's shaped just like an elephant's head. It's another destination to head to for stunning views and scenery.
7. Krishnabai Temple:
This old temple can be found just 300m from the Mahabaleshaw temple. The temple was built in 1888 by the rule Ratnagiri. There's a Shiva Lingam and beautiful statue of goddess Krishnah.
8. Mahabaleshwar Hill Station:
This is one of the most stunning hill stations to visit. It sits at a heigh of 1372m above sea level close to Lake Venna.
9. Venna Lake:
This is another one of the major tourist attractions in Mahabaleshaw in India. It was constructed in 1842 and is surrounded by beautiful trees.
10. Pratapgarh Fort:
Pratapgarh Fort translates to 'Valour Fort'. This is a large fort located in the Satara district. It's significant for being the site of the battle of Pratapdag, making it a popular tourist destination.
