Mayodan is a town in Rockingham County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is a manufacturing site for Sturm, Ruger & Co., Bridgestone Aircraft Tire, and General Tobacco . Washington Mills Company, later Tultex, operated a textile mill in Mayodan until 1999.The town is named for two rivers that converge nearby, the Mayo and the Dan, and, according to Ripley's Believe It or Not!, is the only town in the world with this name.

Mayo River State Park is a North Carolina state park in Rockingham County, North Carolina in the United States. It is near Mayodan, North Carolina and covers 2,187-acre along the Mayo River. The park is one of the newest in the North Carolina system, having been authorized by the General Assembly in May 2003. An interim facility, called the Mayo Mountain Access, was opened to the public on April 1, 2010.

Madison North Carolina Motorcycle Ride - Episode #1. I ride my motorcycle to Madison, North Carolina and visit the mysterious abandoned Grogan's Tourist Court. Then, I visit the Madison town clock and learn the local history. Finally, I sit down with the proprietor of the Madison Dry Goods and Country Store, and learn the startling facts about the Lawson Family Murders. There is a museum about this horrible crime in the upstairs of Madison Dry Goods and Country Store. Finally, I head back home with a full day under my belt and learned a little more about our North Carolina Story.

Wintry Bushwhacking at Mayo River State Park in Rockingham County, North Carolina

Another visit to one of my favorite secret spots in a northern backcountry area of the Mayo River State Park. There is no public access here, no trails or facilities, not even parking! The area is relatively unknown and rarely visited. Perfect!

The Mayo River S.P. is one of North Carolina's newest state parks. It's only been open for a couple of years, so it is not highly developed yet. The state park is not a single property, but actually several different non-contiguous properties stretched out along the Mayo River from near the NC-VA state line to just outside the town of Mayodan, where the Mayo River empties into the Dan River.

In this video, we are in one of the northern most properties of the state park. We check out Fall Creek including the small but beautiful Fall Creek Falls, some cool rock formations and a small cave and of course the Mayo River itself.

There was roughly 6-8 inches of snow on the ground. The temp was about 15 degrees with a brisk wind. Thanks for watching!

Hayodan and Rockingham County Quilt Trail | NC Weekend | UNC-TV

To celebrate the harvest season, the little town of Mayodan decorates hay bales throughout the area. Combined with a quilt trail, its a great way to explore Rockingham County.
