Valle del Cauca Part 1: One of Colombia's most biodiverse Departments

We explored the department Valle del Cauca on the pacific coast and checked it out on its potential for bird watching. El Valle del Cauca is another of the 32 Colombian departments, located in the southwest part of the country between the Andes and the Pacific Coast. The area is surrounded by Choco y Risaralda in the North, Qundio y Toima to the east and Choco y the Pacific Ocean to the west. Because of its location near the Pacific Coast, the area houses between 25 and 50% of the country’s fauna and 11% of the country’s flora.
The Valle del Cauca is the second most biodiverse department in Colombia. With over 725 species of marine birds and 100 migratory species, this is an ideal place for Colombia birdwatching. Get your cameras ready for some great Colombia birding photography as well and be sure to check out the rich diversity of amphibians, as the region houses over 130 different species.
The reign’s natural richness is certainly impressive, but it is also an important area of environmental conservation and protection. From the impenetrable jungles and the fast-flowing rivers to the infinite beaches and the most extensive mangroves in South America, the region is certainly one of the best things to do in Colombia for our nature lovers!

Colombian Llanos Cowboy Land - Traveling Colombia

Welcome to Colombia
I drove to Casanare and Meta, two departments that make up part of the Llanos Colombia region. This region is known as the Cowboy Land of Colombia. It limits with Venezuela to the east. Its culture focuses on the raising of cattle, that's why its music carries with a wide tradition of harp and cowboy life. In this area you will find unique tourist attractions that are nowhere else in the world, as Caño Cristales, also known as the Rainbow River, habitat of pink dolphins; the Bio-park Los Ocarros, and the Natural National Park El Tuparro. Because of its rugged air, it is largely undiscovered by tourists and is thus one of my favorite places to visit. You can arrive to Llanos Orientales by car thanks to the Vía Llanos or by plane arriving to Villavicencio's airport. If you like horse riding, animals, and have always wanted to live the cowboy life, the Colombian Llanos is the place for you. And don't miss out the Colombia safari!

The next morning, after searching the Internet for another hotel of the same budget ($ 11 USD), we requested the check out and went directly to the South American hotel; There we were assigned a room with a queen bed, private bathroom and balcony, much better than the one we had requested, this because of our Genius concordance on Booking.com.
In the afternoon we went to Restrepo Meta but we could not take shots due to the weather, it rained all afternoon. A little frustrated by the weather, in the evening we returned to Villavicencio to take some shots in the area on August 7 where the university students and young people meet to share and celebrate with Halloween night.
That night in the new hotel: Suramericano we were able to fully rest without having the surprise that the previous hotel gave us with its Headwalkers.
We wait in 15 days to return to Medellin Colombia city that we yearn more and more and return to the Lleras Park and its nightlife in Medellin, we know that our followers also want to know more about Medellin.

Bogotá formally Bogotá, Capital District (Spanish: Bogotá, Distrito Capital), from 1991 to 2000 called Santafé de Bogotá, is the capital and largest city of Colombia. It is also designated by the national constitution as the capital of the department of Cundinamarca, though the city of Bogotá now comprises an independent capital district, and no longer belongs administratively to Cundinamarca. Bogotá is the most populous city in the country, with 7,363,782 inhabitants as of 2010.[4] Bogotá and its metropolitan area, which includes municipalities such as Chía, Cota, Soacha, Cajicá and La Calera, had a population of around 8 million in 2010.
In terms of land area, Bogotá is the largest city in Colombia, and one of the biggest in Latin America. It figures among the 30 largest cities of the world and is the third-highest capital city in South America at 2,625 metres (8,612 ft) above sea level, after Quito and La Paz. With its many universities and libraries, Bogotá has in the past been called The Athens of South America. Bogotá owns the largest moorland of the world, which is located in the Sumapaz Locality. The city is listed as global city of the Beta+ kind by the GaWC.
History Bogotá
The area of modern Bogotá was first populated by groups of indigenous people who migrated from Mesoamerica.Among these groups were the Muiscas, who settled mainly in the regions that we know today as the Departaments of Cundinamarca and Boyacá. With the arrival of the Spanish colonizers, the area became a major settlement, founded by Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada and later capital of the Spanish provinces and the seat of the Viceroyalty of New Granada. With independence, Bogotá became capital of the Gran Colombia and later the capital of the Republic of Colombia.
Pre-Colombian era
The first populations inhabiting Bogotá were the Muiscas, members of the Chibcha language family. At the arrival of the conquerors, the population was estimated to be half a million indigenous people. They occupied the highland and mild climate flanks between the Sumapaz Mountains to the southwest and Cocuy's snowy peak to the northeast, covering an approximate area of 25,000 km, comprising Bogotá's high plain, the current Boyacá department portion and a small Santander region. Most fertile lands were ancient Pleistocene lake beds and regions irrigated by high Bogotá, Suárez, Chicamocha and some Meta affluent river beds.
In this area, the population was organised in two large federations, each commanded by a chief. The southwest area was dominated by the Zipa with the center located in Bacatá, currently Bogotá. He was the strongest leader, occupying two-fifths of the territory. The northeast zone was the Zaque domain and the center was Hunza region, currently Tunja. Unlike the Tayronas, the Muiscas did not develop large cities. Muisca, eminently farmers, formed a disperse population occupying numerous small villages and hut settlements. In addition, some free isolated tribes also existed: Iraca or Sugamuxi, Tundama, and Guanentá.

Caño Cristales, INCREDIBLE river in Colombia ! - 4K UHD - Virtual Trip
Caño Cristales, Colombia, is a tributary of the Guayabero River in the Meta Department, about 150km south of Bogota. The river of five colors (yellow, blue, green, black and red) is considered one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. It owes its peculiarity to the presence of an endemic plant or algae called Macarenia clavigera. This plant is pink or reddish and green in place, the color of the stones in places yellow or greenish, the clarity of the water and brightness, all gives the river a fairy-like appearance that can not be found anywhere else on the planet. This particular tributary consists of waterfalls, rapids and holes running over a hundred kilometers for a maximum width of 20 meters, and it is now possible to visit a part of it, from the village La Macarena.
