Montreal Travel Guide - O Canada?
Hey, Wanderlusters!
Today I'm guiding you through the culturally-rich and off base province of Canada known as Quebec, and specifically, Montreal. Here are a few tips and places to check out/see when you visit the Royal Mountain city in the Great White North!
- Always say Bonjour + Hi to someone if you don't speak French. They'll get it immediately and speak to you in English.
- Take the 747 bus from the airport to the center of Montreal for $10
- Book the Auberge Du Carre St-Louis if you can.
- Neighborhoods to check out: Mile End, Little Burgundy, Quartier Latin, Old Port, Gay Village and Quartier des Spectacles.
- Eat at St-Viateur Bagel for an outstanding Montreal classic.
- Schwart'z Deli for Montreal smoked meat sandwiches is good, but the sandwich is small and the line is long.
- Joe Beef or La Banquise for fine dining. Make reservations!
- Take the 2.5 hour drive from Montreal to Quebec City to experience a little slice of a French-style village.

5 FOODS TO TRY IN CANADA + CANADIANS SAYING SORRY | Eileen Aldis
While we're home in the land of the true north strong and free, Marc and I really wanted to fill up on all the delicious Canadian foods you can find here. We were at home one morning trying to decide what to have when I realized we didn't have to decide...we could eat them ALL! We wanted to make a video about it to introduce you to five foods to try in Canada. The first food we went for is poutine. This was created in rural Quebec in the 1950s and has spread far and wide because it's simply delicious. There are many variations now, but the authentic original is French fries loaded with gravy and cheese curds. Not just any cheese, cheese CURDS. We went to a Canadian chain called Smoke's Poutinerie and the guy who served us was super awesome. He even gave us a free t-shirt - so nice! After that we indulged our sweet tooth with Nanaimo bars - a childhood favourite of mine. Hailing from - you guessed it - Nanaimo, British Columbia on the west coast of Canada, these bars are made with three layers: coconut and chocolate, custard, and chocolate. We found a spot to eat them surrounded by enthusiastic Canada Geese, which seemed very appropriate. Next on our Canada hit list was butter tarts. These originated in the prairies during pioneer times. They're individually-sized desserts: a flaky pastry and sweet filling. Sometimes you'll find raisins or nuts in there as well. Needing a break from all the sweets, Marc and I grabbed two bags of our favourite Canadian chips: ketchup for me and dill pickle for him. The story goes that ketchup chips were invented by Hostess Potato chips in the 1970s but marketed exclusively in Canada. They were a huge hit and have been on shelves here ever since. Dill pickle is uniquely Canadian. When we lived in Australia and I went home to visit Canada, they were the one thing Marc asked me to bring him back. To end off a day of debauchery, we had Tiger Tail ice cream at a local spot in my hometown of London, Ontario. This is really popular amongst Canadian kids (and big kids like us). It's orange ice cream with black liquorice swirls. There are lots more Canadian foods we love so maybe we'll do another video like this on another trip home to Canada. We hope you enjoyed this vlog - please give it a thumbs up if you'd like to see more food videos!

Fun Facts About Canada (You May Not Know...)
Some fun and (somewhat obscure facts about Canada and Canadian culture). Even a couple Canadians might be surprised at a few of these babies. For people who have never traveled here, the first thing that surprises them is how many Canadians live in large urban cities. This is a shift from the 17th-19th century when Canada was largely rural...GOOD DAY, EH!
15 Canadian Snacks YOU MUST TRY!
These are the 15 most typical Canadian snacks and drinks I've come across during the past 10 years living in Canada. You'd be surprised to what some of these Canadian products include: Poutine, Butter Tarts, Bagged Milk, Lay's Ketchup chips and Pizza with dip sauce.
My friend Keely Valentine (pop star, singer, songwriter) came over to help me review these typical Canadian Snacks & Drinks, she also helped me last time with the Weird American Snacks review.
We started off with Canadian Poutine from Smoke's Poutinerie and a loyal Molson Canadian beer. I even ended up making Kraft Dinner for the first time in my life, let alone, microwaving maple flavoured bacon to perfection.

Iceline Trail Yoho National Park
Iceline Trail in Yoho National Park is one of the best in the Rockies. It is a hard one day hike. Best is two split it up into two days. Hike the first day into Little Yoho and camp in the Primitive Campsite or the Alpine Club of Canada's Stanley Mitchell Cabin and then the second day hike back out or stay for a few days and enjoy the spectacular scenery. There are all sorts of hanging glaciers a long the way, small lakes, waterfalls. It doesn't get much better.
When to Exchange Money for Your Trip Abroad
Ever wonder when you should get your foreign currency for your trip abroad? Well here we talk about when you should get your foreign currency. And your best bet is to get it when you go abroad. You will get a better exchange rate for that currency in the country versus getting it before you go. Make sure you use your home local bank ATM debit card and take money out of ATMs abroad. On average that will give you the best exchange rate. Also, do not go for the automatic conversions to your local currencies that some ATMs offer. Most likely you would get a better exchange rate from your local bank instead.
