Modderfontein is a suburb of the City of Johannesburg on the east of the Witwatersrand conurbation which lies within the province of Gauteng province of South Africa, formerly called the PWV area. It began as a mining town adjacent to the Modder River, hence its name which is Afrikaans for Modder spring or fountain. Hector Pieterson was a South African schoolboy who was shot and killed during the Soweto uprising, when police opened fire on students protesting the enforcement of teaching in Afrikaans. A news photograph by Sam Nzima of the mortally wounded Pieterson being carried by another Soweto resident while his sister ran next to them was published around the world. The anniversary of his death is designated Youth Day, when South Africans honour young people and bring attention to their needs.

The Cradle of Humankind is a paleoanthropological site about 50 km northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa, in the Gauteng province. Declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999, the site currently occupies 47,000 hectares and contains a complex of limestone caves. The registered name of the site in the list of World Heritage sites is Fossil Hominid Sites of South Africa. The Sterkfontein Caves were the site of the discovery of a 2.3-million-year-old fossil Australopithecus africanus , found in 1947 by Robert Broom and John T. Robinson. We have had so many people asking us to visit Happy Island Waterworld and make a video...so we couldn't resist.

They are not yet finished construction or all the ground work, but they gave Johannesburg what they asked for, and that was to open...so I commend them on that.

Its going to be amazing to see how the place will look when they are finished...we cant wait...but for now, here's exactly what you missing out on!

Bivane Dam (formally called Paris Dam) & Nature Reserve - Vryheid, KZN, South Africa

Bivane Dam : about 45 km from Vryheid KZN South Africa. A recreational area built/completed in 2000 to serve local agricultural irrigation needs and the water needs of local communities. The facility also has a nature reserve containing small buck and leopards are known to inhabit this area as well. A good value for money getaway in a scenic, secluded corner of the Kwazulu Natal Province.

We went from Las vegas to san fransisco, los angeles. then 2 weeks Hawaii (maui and honolulu).
Back to the USA and then 2 nights on Hollywood boulevard before we go home (the netherlands, amsterdam)
