Shuichi Miura Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Design, Tohoku University of Art and Design Born in 1963, from Hyogo.
Focusing on architecture and local communities, Mr. Miura's research domain varies from energy conservation and practical use of natural energy to technical evaluation and policy on global warming countermeasures. He sees forests as a great creator of renewable energy as well as a provider of job opportunities. Rich as Tohoku cities are in forest resources, he believes energy produced in forests can help each community become independent. His dream of Tohoku becoming a 'green energy frontier' -- transitioning its energy source from nuclear power to natural energy -- drives him to put his ideas into practice.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
