The Best Attractions In Moira Shire

Since July last year we have been planning constantly to head down to Moira Shire although things just kept getting in the way. But on a Thursday morning everyone happened to be free and we were off at 4:00 am in the morning. We headed towards the Goulburn Valley where we arrived in the small town of Nurmurkah where we covered all three collections Green-Waste, Garbage and Recycle.

The main reason for this trip though was to check out a different mode of Kerbside collections, something you don't see these days all over Australia. DS Kendall Waste Services is well known for its residency in the Goulburn Valley region as it services both Moira Shire and Berrigan Shire which is in New South Wales (just over the Murray River). They run a fleet of trucks which use MJE bodies. The arm that is used though is pretty old school and this type of featured arm is something that was mostly a Common sight in the 1990's with the Grab invention slowly coming into place but Comb lifters then were also a common sight. Basically these arms are called 'Suction Cup Lifters' and it practically works like a Vacuum but in this case the driver would line up the bin, hook it up and when the bin is halfway in lifting motion Air begins sucking the bin on to the suction cup, then a plate locks the bin and reaches the hopper.

Most of their trucks feature the Lazy Axle. I don't really know/understand the reason why they add on the Lazy Axle but it's something different I guess! The body featuring is a MJ GenV Recycler body, clearly sporting its modifications to the hopper and its different lifter opposed to the grab system. We found the truck on its final streets so I had to be quick with filming! It does pack out in one or two clips but other then that I was pleased to film one of the older trucks on Recycle as the newer Iveco Acco cabs are starting to replace the current fleet.

Was a good day out and I really enjoyed it and so did the others I reckon! It was certainly great to get something different on film for once.
