The easiest way to change station in Paris
If you are travelling by train from the UK to the Alps and need to change station in Paris, here's the easiest way to do it - by pre-booked taxi.
Changing train in Paris opens up a far wider range of ski resorts that you can reach easily by train from the UK. But many skiers imagine that the change in Paris is a hassle. With a pre-booked taxi, it isn't - and we made this video to show you how easy the change is.
We travelled from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon. The actual taxi ride takes about 15-20 minutes, and you pass some interesting Paris scenery on the way. Of course, you need to allow a minimum of one hour to between your Eurostar arriving and your TGV departing so that you can make the changed comfortably.
You can do a very similar change of station by taxi from Gare du Nord to Gare d'Austerlitz if you are taking a sleeper train to the Alps. And also when travelling by train back to the UK, changing in Paris from Gare de Lyon to Gare du Nord, and when changing from Gare d'Austerlitz to Gare du Nord.
You can find out more about how to book the journey by visiting Snowcarbon's guide on how to change station in Paris at:

English:
Dinard is on the Côte d'Émeraude of Brittany. Its beaches and mild climate make it a popular holiday destination, and this has resulted in the town having a variety of famous visitors and residents.
In modern history Dinard was first settled by Saint-Malo's shipping merchants who built some of the town's magnificent houses, very few of which survive. In the late 19th century American and British aristocrats made Dinard popular as a fashionable summer resort, and they built stunning villas on the cliff tops and exclusive hotels such as the 'Le Grand Hotel' on the seafront during the French Belle Époque.
The name Dinard comes from the words Din (hill/fort) and Arz/Art (fortified). It has been claimed, probably erroneously, that the second element means bear/Arthur); the bear in Celtic mythology is a symbol of sovereignship. The town council is in the process of removing the bear from the municipal flag, a decision disputed by the former mayor.
Originally, Dinard was part of the parish of Saint-Énogat. In the late 19th century, the resort became popular with the British wealthy who built magnificent villas on the coast. Dinard rapidly expanded and became one of the most popular seaside resorts in Europe.[citation needed] It started declining in the 1930s when the fashionable social set started preferring the Côte d'Azur. Today, Dinard is considered as one of the most British of sea resorts in France, however it has retained its French charm. There are 407 listed villas.
The official name of the town was Saint-Énogat until 1879 when the name was changed to Dinard-Saint-Énogat. The name was changed once more in 1921 to become simply Dinard. Saint-Énogat is now just the name for the western area of the town.
Dinard cannot boast much nightlife, but many bars and fine restaurants fill the town's streets. The abundance of beaches coupled with a consistently sunny weather, however, attracts many visitors during the summer holidays. The attractions include a casino with a restaurant facing the sea and a hall which hosts many expositions. The nearby towns of Saint-Briac-sur-Mer and Saint-Lunaire also feature respectively a fairly large golf course and the beach of Longchamp, renowned as a surfers' spot.
Dinard holds every year a Festival of British Cinema in the first days of October.

Toulon is a port city on southern France’s Mediterranean coast, lined with sandy beaches and shingle coves. It’s a significant naval base and the harbor is home to submarines and warships, as well as fishing boats and ferries. The grand Musée National de la Marine in the Port of Toulon exhibits maritime artifacts. Rugged limestone mountains form a backdrop to the city, and a cable car shuttles visitors up Mont Faron.
Toulon is a city in southern France and a large military harbour on the Mediterranean coast, with a major French naval base. Located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, Toulon is the capital of the Var department.
The old town of Toulon, the historic centre located between the port, the Boulevard de Strasbourg and the Cours Lafayette, is a pedestrian area with narrow streets, small squares and many fountains. Toulon Cathedral is located here. The area is also home of the celebrated Provençal market which takes place every morning on the Cours Lafayette. Fontaine du Dauphin, Place Paul Comte. The fountain, on the wall of the Bishop's residence, appears in the drawings of Toulon made for Louis XIV in 1668. Fontaine des Trois Dauphins, Place Puget (1782). Fontaine de l'Intendance, Place Amiral Sénès, (1821). The Fontaine-Lavoir de Saint-Vincent, Place Saint-Vincent (1832), replaced the original fountain built in 1615. It had a fountain for drinking water and two basins, for washing clothes, one for washing and one for rinsing.
The upper town, between the Boulevard de Strasbourg and the railway station, was built in the mid-19th century under Louis Napoleon. The project was begun by Baron Haussmann, who was prefect of the Var in 1849. Improvements to the neighbourhood included the Toulon Opera, the Place de la Liberté, the Grand Hôtel, the Gardens of Alexander I, the Chalucet Hospital, the palais de Justice, the train station, and the building now occupied by Galeries Lafayette, among others. Haussmann went on to use the same style on a much grander scale in the rebuilding of central Paris.
Le Mourillon is a small seaside neighbourhood to the east of Toulon. Mount Faron (584 metres (1,916 feet)) dominates the city of Toulon. The top can be reached either by a cable car from Toulon. Beginning in 1678, Vauban constructed an elaborate system of fortifications around Toulon. Some parts, such as the section that once ran along the present-day Boulevard de Strasbourg, were removed in the mid-19th century.
Toulon has a number of museums. The Museum of the French Navy (Musée national de la marine) is located on Place Monsenergue. The Museum of Old Toulon and its Region (Musée du vieux Toulon et de sa région). The Museum of Asian Arts (Musée des arts asiatiques), in Mourillon. The Museum of Art (Musée d'art) . Toulon is served by the Gare de Toulon railway station, offering suburban services to Marseille (1 train every 15minutes during rush hour), Nice, Paris and regional destinations. The port of Toulon is the main port of departure for ferries to Corsica. The nearest airport is the regional Toulon-Hyères Airport. The A50 autoroute connects Toulon to Marseille, the A57 autoroute runs from Toulon to Le Luc, where it connects to the A8 autoroute

Places to see in ( Besancon - France ) Fort de Chaudanne
The fort Chaudanne (or strong Baudrand ) is a Besançon fortification on the hill of Chaudanne, in the district of Velotte. An Arçon lunette was built in 1792 at the top of Chaudanne Hill; its defenders victoriously repulsed an assault during the blockade of Besançon in 1814.
The fort as we know it today was built between 1841 and 1845 ; it encompasses the tower-reduced Arçon lunette. The site was to defend the south-west positions of the city ( historic center ), and prohibit the bombardment of the citadel from Chaudanne Hill.
The height of the small Chaudanne was later built to cover the site. The building was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War, then to liberation, resumed by the American army. Today the fort belongs to the municipality of Besançon and it is the subject of an inscription under the historical monuments since the May 30 , 1996. A rock powder magazine was dug in 1882 outside the fort.

Helicopter flying in the French Alps (Megève & Courchevel)
Helitutor.com recently took our R44 G-RALA to the French Alps to brush up on our mountain flying and familiarise ourselves with some of the arrival/departure procedures at the French Altiports. This video shows a 40min flight (played at 8x speed) from Megève altiport to Courchevel where we practice 2 approaches and departures, followed by the return flight to Megève. It was an unbelievable flight, in great conditions.
