Mosjøen is a town, a former town municipality, and a former privileged staple place in the Municipality of Vefsn in the southern part of the County of Nordland, Norway. It is also a former garrison town and a former customs place. Established in 1875, Mosjøen is the oldest town in the Helgeland region, with only Bodø being older within Nordland. The 6.41-square-kilometre settlement has got a population of 9,665, giving it a population density of 1,508 inhabitants per square kilometre . The related demonym is mosjøværing. Dolstad Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vefsn Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Mosjøen. It is the church for the Dolstad parish which is part of the Indre Helgeland prosti in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The red, wooden church was built in a octagonal style in 1734 by the architect Nils Pedersen Bech. The church seats about 500 people.

The Helgeland Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Leirfjorden between the mainland and the island of Alsta in Nordland county, Norway. The town of Sandnessjøen is located just southwest of the bridge on the island. The Helgeland Bridge was designed by Holger S. Svensson. Construction began in 1989 and it was finished in 1991. The bridge officially opened in July 1991. Construction cost was 200 million NOK. The bridge was a toll bridge until 23 June 2005.The 1,065-metre-long bridge is made up of 12 spans, the longest of which is 425 metres long. The maximum clearance to the sea below the bridge is 45 metres . The foundations extend to a depth of 31 metres . The bridge is built out of pre-stressed and reinforced concrete and steel cables.
