5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Melbourne, Australia
Beautiful beaches, quirky wildlife, spa towns, and spectacular wilderness areas - you'll find all this and more within a few hours' drive of Melbourne. One of the country's most dazzling scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road, lies less than 200 kilometers from the city, as well as gorgeous Grampian National Park, the gleaming white-sand shores of Wilsons Promontory, and the rugged Dandenong Ranges. Wildlife scores top billing at many of these city escapes. You can watch penguins parading up a pristine beach at Phillip Island and commune with colorful parrots, wild kangaroos, and wombats in the national parks. In addition to the rich natural beauty that beckons just a short drive from the CBD, Victoria's elegant seaside resorts charm visitors with their quaint shops, art galleries, and award-winning restaurants. History buffs can explore an old gold rush town, and in winter, skiers and snowboarders can carve up the slopes of Mount Buller less than a three-hour drive from the city. Here five day trips from melbourne, victoria.
1. Great Ocean Road
2. Phillip Island's Penguin Parade
3 The Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley

5 INCREDIBLE Things To Do In Mornington Peninsula | Local Melbourne Secrets (2019)
Explore these 5 secret offbeat places and things to do in Mornington Peninsula - a stunning piece of coast in the very south of Victoria, Australia. Discover offbeat beaches and rugged shorelines that are sure to take your breath away.
Get off the main road and see the true beauty of the Mornington Peninsula on its back beaches - we'll take you on an unforgettable adventure through Sorrento, Blairgowrie, Cape Shanck and Point Nepean National Park - coastlines, beaches, rock pools and blowholes that will steal your breath away. Quite literally.
The most beautiful Mornington Peninsula attractions are all free-of-charge and really are Mother Nature's finest works of art. We head down every summer and stumble upon a new natural marvel each time, which is why we can never get enough of its beauty. If you're not up for a 3-hour trip to see the sights down at the Great Ocean Road, I would highly recommend a day or weekend trip to this gorgeous corner of Victoria that - pretty much - is almost the same thing but on a smaller scale.
And, of course - a trip here isn't complete without a visit to the Mornington Peninsula Spa, or Hot Springs. After a long day of hiking jagged coastlines and exploring various beaches, relax and unwind in these natural mineral pools and soak up the serene atmosphere that surrounds you.
Only a short one and a half hour drive from the CBD - it's a perfect Melbourne day trip and one of the best things to do in Victoria, Australia.
