Most INSANE Doner Kebab in Istanbul! (and Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Rome)!

Day 13: Istanbul to Rome on Turkish Airlines - On Day 13 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance, I first had the most insanely amazing doner kebab I’ve ever had, and then we went to the airport, enjoyed the Istanbul Turkish Airlines lounge, before flying with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Rome.
00:53 Tarihi Karadeniz Döner - My friend Tuba from says this place serves the best doner kebab in Istanbul, and she’s no joking around. The first thing you notice when you arrive to Tarihi Karadeniz Döner is the biggest round of doner that you’ll likely ever see in your life - it’s absolutely incredibly beautiful. Many people order their doner kebab for takeaway, but they have some seating upstairs where you can grab a seat and enjoy your doner kebab immediately after its shaved off. I ordered a plate of doner kebab meat, which was absolutely awesome. The meat was shaved perfectly, so it was slightly crispy, yet juicy and flavorful all the way through. Then I also ordered the iskender kebab (İskender kebap), another Turkish food I had been longing to eat. The doner kebab meat is sliced off, then combined with tomato sauce, sheep butter, and yogurt. Finally, to wash down the doner, I also had a cup of ayran. Total price - 46 TL ($15.45)
7:19 Taxi to Istanbul Atatürk Airport - After the amazing doner kebab at Tarihi Karadeniz Döner, we then checked out of our hotel and jumped in a taxi to the airport. Price - 57 TL ($19.14)
8:13 Turkish Airlines Lounge - I haven’t been to too many lounges, but the Turkish Airlines lounge in Istanbul is one of the most amazing airline lounges in the world. There was so much good food and so many drinks and beverage options. I was honestly pretty full after devouring all that doner kebab, but I did have a chance to try Turkish manti and then I went in for some salad.
12:05 Turkish Airlines Flight from Istanbul to Rome - We then caught our flight on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Rome. Turkish Airlines is an amazing airline with great service, and I love how there’s a chef on board. For lunch I had the kebab and it was pretty good.
16:45 Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport - The flight from Istanbul to Rome didn’t take too long, and we arrive to Rome!
17:16 Bus to Termini Station - 5.90 EUR ($6.59) per person - To get from the airport to the center of Rome we took the bus, which dropped us off at Termini station. From Termini Station we took the Metro to Spagna station.
18:13 Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora - During out time in Rome, we stayed at Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, located in a great location.

Milli parkın hemen yakınlarında bulunan otel ve diğer konaklama tesisleri ise Yedigöller ve çevresinde kalmak isteyenler için ideal. Bu kış Yedigöller'in doğası ile buluşmak isterseniz iyi tatiller.
3- Abant Gölü / Bolu
Dört mevsim bir başka güzelliğe bürünen Abant Tabiat Parkı özellikle kış mevsiminde bir başka oluyor. Mudurnu-Abant yolunda kar ve buzlanma sebebiyle zor anlar yaşansa da Abant‘a ulaşıldığında bütün sıkıntılar unutuluyor. Yarı yıl tatili için gidecek yer arayanlar için Bolu- Abant güzel bir alternatif. Hatta yalnız hafta sonu için bile gidilebilir.
4- Ayder Yaylası / Rize
Karadeniz'in uçsuz bucaksız yaylaları kış tatili denince ilk akla gelen yerler olmayabilir. Genellikle ilkbahar ve yaz aylarında çıkılan yaylalar kış geldiğinde çok daha farklı bir manzara çiziyor. Ayder Yaylası ve çevresinde bulunan kaplıcalar kış aylarında şifa bulmak için en iyi yerlerden biri. Genellikle karalaha ile yapılan Karadeniz lezzetleri ile de bilinen Ayder'e ulaşmak için Trabzon'a uçarak buradan araç kiralayabilir ve yaylanın yolunu tutabilirsiniz. Hamsili lezzetlerin şehri Trabzon'da tadına bakabilirsiniz.

The first meeting of the Project Clean Earth was held in Bolu, Turkey. We stayed there during six days, enjoying Turkish hospitality. Here we present some details of our stay from our point of view. They are described day by day.
Saturday November 14th 2009
Arrival in Istanbul. We stayed at Hotel Evsen together with the Portuguese group.
Sunday November 15th 2009
After we visited the Blue Mosque during the morning, we came back to the airport to meet the others. At night we got to Bolu and stayed at Hotel Koröglu. We had the first meeting there, in order to decide what we are going to do throughout the week.
Monday November 16th 2009
Meeting with school staff at Mehmet Akif Ersoy School. There we had a tour around the building and we met the nice pupils that study there. After lunch, we visited the Office of Ministry of Education in Bolu. Then, we visited the Upper Bazaar , the Market and the Yildirim Beyazit Mosque.
Tuesday November 17th 2009
Poetry reading and theater play. Then, some students works were explained. I am sure that all the teachers were impressed by the creative skills of our Spanish students. After lunch, we visited the Guildhall and come to meet the major of Bolu. We went to the countryside to visit a recycling center and a wastewater treatment plant. Before dinner, we had time to visit a charity center for poor people.
Wednesday November 18th 2009
Environmental trip to Kartalkaya. We were delighted by the impressive landscape that surrounded us. We also visited the ski station and we enjoyed a lot playing with the snow. At night, the Major of Bolu invited us to dinner at a restaurant. Then we had a party there and we learned a lot about Turkish dance.
Thursday November 19th 2009
Folk dance show. The students showed us their creativity and cultural conscience. Before lunch, we, the Spanish group, organized a recycling workshop at the school. Environmental trip to Abant. A nice tour around lakes and mountains. In the afternoon we traveled to the village of Mudurnu, where we were welcomed by the major. After dinner, we said farewell to our partners from England, who came back to their country. It was a pleasure, friends.
Friday November 20th 2009
Concert and Dance Show. Again, the students showed us their artistic skills. In this case, we enjoyed their musical creations. Then we had a meeting in order to decide what sort of things are going to be developed for the next months. It was Joseph, the Maltese coordinator, who led the work, getting us ready for the next meeting in Malta. After that, certificate ceremony and cultural exchanges. We were proud to bring our culture from La Mancha to a remote country. Then, we caught the bus to Istanbul, leaving behind some good friends in Bolu. We hope to see you soon!

Visit to the Great Bazaar and Saint Sophia in Istanbul. Although we were exhausted we had a little time to visit those impressive monuments. After we said goodbye to other groups, we went to have a rest. Tomorrow would be a very long and tiring day.

We caught a taxi to the Atatürk Airport in order to go back to Spain. We have had a great time in Turkey, we have met a lot of friends and above all, we returned home with an open mind. For us, it has been an enriching and unforgettable experience. Hope to enjoy another one.
