TheRamgarh Fort and the associated town of Ramshere demonstrate the excellence and unique craftsmanship of those times. The last ruler of Nalagarh was Raja Surendra Singh.
Nalagarh, a stunning hill station, is very famous for its picturesque beauty. It attracts good number of tourists every year. The Nalagarh Valley is a long band surrounded by the spurs of the outer Himalayas to the north-east and the heavily eroded range of the Shivaliks in the south and west. One can see the ruins of many forts around the valley, which include the forts of Chamba, Surajupur, Ramharh and Malaon.

Mini Switzerland.
On 07-07-1992, Mr. Willy t. Blazer, Vice Counselor and Head of Chancery of Switzerland in India brought Khajjiar on the world tourism map by christening it Mini Switzerland. He also put a sign board of a yellow Swiss hiking footpath showing Khajjiar's distance from the Swiss capital Berne-6194 km. Khajjiar is among the 160 locations in the world that bear topographical resemblance with Switzerland. The Counselor also took from Khajjiar a stone which will form part of a stone collage around the Swiss Parliament to remind the visitors of Khajjiar as Mini Switzerland of India. It is about 6,500 feet (2,000 m) above sea level in the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges of the Western Himalayas and snowy peaks can be seen in the distance. It is part of the Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary.
Khajjiar is often reffered to as Gulmarg of Himachal Pradesh.
.Khajjiar is a hill station in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, India, located approximately 24 km from Dalhousie. Khajjiar sits on a small plateau with a small stream-fed lake in the middle that has been covered over with weeds.
Khajjiar can be reached from Dalhousie and Chamba, the nearest major town and hill station, by bus/Taxi in an hour or so. It has a rare combination of three ecosystems: lake, pasture and forest, all in one place.
There is a Hotel and some cottages run by HP Tourism at Khajjiar where the tourists can stay . Besides there are two rest houses one each of P.W.D. and Forest Deptt. A couple of nice private hotels have also come up.
Travel
Most tourists travel to Khajjiar by private or rented vehicles. Bus service is also available to and from Khajjiar.
Places of Interest
The best entertainment in Khajjiar is to walk around the lake or to go for long walks in the thick pine forests. Children enjoy this place because of the freedom of movement and the slopy terrain which permits them to roll down to the lake without getting hurt. Another attraction like any other hill station is horse riding.Dhauladhar mountains:Dense deodars, pines and lush green meadows are characteristic of Khajjiar. Since Khajjiar is situated at the base of the Dhauladhar mountains, the tourists here can get panoramic views of the mountains
Khajjiar Lake: Khajjiar Lake is a small lake, surrounded by saucer-shaped lush green meadow and a floating island. The dense growth of weed called 'vacha' has made its earth spongy. Now the banks stand covered by a thick layer of earth, formed by the years of dust settling down on the weeds.
Khajjinag temple: A little away from the lake is the temple of Khajji Nag belonging to 12th C. AD. In the mandapa of the temple one can see the images of the Pandavas and the defeated Kaurvas hanging from the roof of the circumambulatory path. The sanctum of the temple has been beautifully carved from wood. This temple is dedicated to snake(Nāga) worship and there are some snake idols inside.

The architectural design of Shiva’s Temple in Jatoli is marvelous. This temple has been built according to Indo – Aryan Style where the top tower is round with a curvilinear outline which ends into a tip. The tip of such temple is usually decorated with golden kalash. Few modifications have also been carried out by giving a touch of fusion of Southern or Dravidian- Style to this temple. The Shiva’s temple at Jatoli has three consecutive sub-pyramidal structures which end in a tip. The tapering part in the temple architecture is called as Shikhar or the pinnacle. The height of this sub pyramidal has been maintained in ascending order but kept little lower than the main pyramidal of what is called as ‘Vimana’. At the base of first sub pyramidal platform Lord Ganesha has been seated.
The frontal area around these pyramids has been decorated with one yellow- green colored kalash on each side. At the base of the platform of third sub pyramid one can see a trishul distinctively on each side. There are figures of gods and goddesses along the front and lateral sides of the temple. The main pyramid is tallest among all sub pyramids, thus making the height of this temple 111 ft., and has been given the tag of highest temple of lord Shiva in Asia. The construction the temple was completed in 39 years.
On the northeast corner of the temple lies a water tank known as ‘Jal Kund ‘ where the water flow is natural and is considered auspicious and pious like the holy Ganges. This water is said to have some medicinal qualities to treat skin diseases. There is a main cave on the left side of the entrance of this temple where Swami Krishanand Paramhansji used to reside.
Thus, there is a combination of myth, reality, art, culture and heritage at this magnificent temple. I’m grateful to my wife Kamlesh Gera, who consistently encouraged me to visit the temple. My pilgrimage to this wonderful religious place would have never been completed without spiritual support of my friend N. S. Bhatnagar and his wife, so my heartfelt gratitude to both of them.
