Kenai Peninsula's Northwest Coast: Kenai Beach, Nikiski, Kalifornsky
Luv 2 Drivelapse? - Like for updates & great travel ideas
This is a long video, and you might find some of the drive to be boring. I decided to explore the areas off of the main highway (AK 1, Sterling Highway) to see what was there. The answer is: oil/gas plants and remote residential plots. Anyway, if you're curious what's at places with names like Kalifornsky and Nikiski, here you go.
Oh, and Kenai Beach was pretty great. Enjoy!

Alaska Travel Destination & Attractions | Visit Seward Park Show Seward (Alutiiq: Qutalleq) is a city in Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. According to 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 3,016.[4] It was named after William H. Seward, United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. In 1867, he fought for the U.S. purchase of Alaska which he finally negotiated to acquire from Russia. In 1793 Alexander Baranov of the Shelikhov-Golikov company (precursor of the Russian-American Company) established a fur trade post on Resurrection Bay where Seward is today, and had a three-masted vessel, the Phoenix, built at the post by James Shields, an English shipwright in Russian service.[5] Mile 0 of the historic Iditarod Trail is at Seward. In the early 1900s the trail was blazed in order to transport people and goods to and from the port of Seward to interior Alaska. The 1939 Slattery Report on Alaskan development identified the region as one of the areas where new settlements would be established through Jewish immigration. This plan was never implemented, more Info

Rving Alaska: Oceanfront camping on the Kenai Penisula in Ninilchik
We leave Seward behind and head out the Sterling Highway to visit the other side of the Kenai Peninsula where we find beachside camping on the Cook Inlet at the Deep Creek State Recreation Area in Ninilchik, Alaska. Our first day at camp was spent exploring the beach area on our Polaris Quad and we end up taking you for a ride 5 miles down the beach where we find a waterfall and a tractor trailer pulling boats out of the ocean.

This is one of the most beautiful drives you can imagine. From the south end of Anchorage, head across Potter Marsh towards the edge of Turnagain Arm, and ride for miles with an amazing view of mountains and water ahead of, and beside of you. The drive continues onto the Kenai Peninsula. It ends at the junction with Route 9 and Sterling Highway at Tern Lake.

Combat Fishing the World Famous Kenai River in Alaska | Kenai Peninsula
My videos can be seen at My photos can be seen at Here is a few clips I shot while on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska this last summer. The first part of the video is of the infamous mudflats (mud flats) found throughout coastal Alaska. These can be very dangerous as it is easy to get stuck in them.
You will also see images of combat fishing and the amazingly beautiful Kenai River where all of this battle for the biggest and best salmon take place. The Kenai river is world famous for it abundance of fish!
I also set the camera up to give you the idea of what its like to stand amidst the amazing beauty and power of the river and mountains in this region.
Hope you enjoy this video. If you do, please share it, and if you are not already, then please subscribe. :) A thousand thanks for watching!
