00:00 Lion’s Head
No place is better for a sundowner in Cape Town. The 1,5 hour climb rewards you with an unforgettable view, 670 metres above the city.
00:06 Bo-Kaap
The most colourful part of Cape Town is home to an interesting mix of muslim-dutch inhabitants.
00:08 Kruger National Park
Kruger is arguably the most famous of all national parks, where you can tick of your Big 5. We especially enjoyed the less visited Klaserie area and the Addo Elephant National Park (where you also get to see Whale Sharks and the Great White – making it the Big 7).
00:12 Kalahari Trails Sanctuary
The cutest experience of all! It’s less about the rescued meerkats you get to see there. There’s actually a bunch of wild meerkats visiting the area avery day who let you get up close and join them on their hole digging business.
00:15 iSimangaliso Wetland Park
In November they lay their eggs, in the South African summer the turtles are hatching. No place better to watch this spectacle than this national park!
00:17-00:22 The Winelands
It is impossible to buy bad wine in South Africa. And you have to visit at least one winery and do a proper tasting. The winery of Viljoensdrift even offers tastings on a relaxing boat trip – for sure the best way to do it!
00:23 Albrecht Street - Maboneng
You’re into street art? You adore your fixie bike and your triple chai fly macchiato mocca? Drop by Maboneng, the hippest place in South Africa.
00:25 Bloukrans Bridge
You’re into adrenalin? Then stop at the Bloukrans Bridge and jump with Face Adrenalin a whopping 216 meters into the gorge.
00:28 Helicopter ride
You have to see beautiful Cape Town from above. Helicopter rides are quite affordable and we highly recommend doing it. Some tours even go around the cape – even better!
00:29 Table Mountain
This 1000 meter high mountain right above the city centre of Cape Town is part of the New Seven Wonders of the World. You can walk up here, but we highly recommend taking the cableway. Safe your stamina for the Lion’s Head.
00:30 Augrabies Falls
Few things are more impressive than a massive amount of water falling… You agree? Visit this massive waterfall (56 metres) in a gorgeous gorge - haha (240 metres).
00:32 Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
Another desert, another sundowner. You won’t get the read beauty of the Kalahari out of your head, we promise! (No matter how much you drink)
00:35-00:37 Rooftops in Johannesburg
It’s rough and might not be as picturesque as Cape Town, but Jo’burg is on the rise and booming. Its skyline is eye-popping – good that some hotel owners knew that and provide lots of rooftop terraces.
00:39 Nature’s Valley
One of those places that you hardly find along the road. On our tour we stopped at a beautiful beach right at the river mouth of the Grootrivier. There was noone else. Thankfully.
00:41 Noetzie Beach
Yes, it is hard to get there. But the dramatic rock formations are totally worth the exhausting walk down to Noetzie Beach (and back up again).
00:42 Muizenberg
You’re into surfing and beach life? Then you’ll love the relaxed vibe along the ocean boulevard of Muizenberg. And the colourful Edwardian Beach Houses are quite instagrammy.
00:45 Orange River
South Africa at one side, Namibia to the other. What a cool way of passing through the “green” Kalahari. The great guys from Tutwa Desert Lodge organised this trip for us. Recommended!
00:46 Panorama Route
Such a perfect roadtrip! From the sunsets to funnily named rock formations, to… (see 01:00)
00:51 Table Mountain
Worth a second visit. See 00:29.
00:53 Boulders Beach
Yes, there are penguins in Africa. And they’re awesome. Boulders Beach is a colony where you can even swim with the cutest birds alive – if you pay at the entrance.
00:55 Misty Cliffs
Rent a bike and explore Cape Towns surroundings, they are so worth it! Misty Cliffs was our favourite bit, because, well, of the mist. And the cliffs.
00:58 Cape of Good Hope
Well, you hopefully get there eventually. Though cueing up for a photo behind the famous signboard spoils the romantic a bit. Do it anyway. You’re already there so…
01:00 God’s Window
We have to admit, we were a little bit disappointed by the “Window” itself. A rusty bit of fence in front of a gorge. The walk up there was great though, and it should look incredible with a cloud carpet covering it (like seen in the cult film “The God’s Must be Crazy”).
01:02 Blyde River Canyon
What. A. Canyon. By far the best bit of the Panorama Route for us. Just…well…breathaking. These mighty green mountains, this view, this sunset…Could someone get us another Savanna, please?
Private Beach at Noetzie, South Africa
Private beach has several private castles which can be rented with your own chef and butler!
WHAT TO DO IN SOUTH AFRICA in 60 seconds
You think South Africas highlights can’t be done in 60 seconds? You’re damn right. But we tried it anyway. The diversity of the country, the stunning landscapes, animals and vibrant cities gave us a hard time to choose though. Enjoy!

It went all too fast? You want the details? No problem.
Here are our recommendations in order of appearance:
0:05 Cape Point
Cape Point is everyone’s idea of a picture postcard. The dramatic cliff rises hundreds of meters into the sky straight from the sea. Take the time to walk all the way to the front of the peninsula to get the best view over the Cape of Good Hope and the old Lighthouse.
0:08 Vilakazi Street
This is the only street in the world with two Nobel Peace Prizes: Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu lived here in the heart of Soweto. Today Vilakazi Street is less a local experience but still a must do when you’re in Johannesburg.
0:10 Johannesburg
For a long time Johannesburg has just been known for infamous crime rates. This is not longer the case. Jo’burg is on the rise and booming. Quarters like Newtown or Maboneng are not only perfectly safe but also a thrilling experience.
0:13 Orlando Towers
A lot of visitors think that Soweto belongs to Johannesburg – ask someone from Soweto and they’ll strictly deny that. Biking and walking tours are popular and recommended. We did our tour with Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers.
0:15 Maboneng
You’re into street art? You adore your fixie bike and your triple chai fly macchiato mocca? Drop by Maboneng, the hippest place in South Africa.
0:17 Soweto Derby
The SA Soccer League is dominated by two teams: The Orlando Pirates and the Kaizer Chiefs. Funny enough both teams are Soweto based which leads to interesting paintings on certain houses.
0:21 Addo Elephant National Park
This park is the only place in the world where you can see the Big 7 - which means lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, elephant – plus whales and the great white shark. You’ll have trouble spotting all of them but you will still be amazed by the huge elephant herds in the park.
0:25 Bloukrans Bridge
You’re into adrenalin? Then stop at the Bloukrans Bridge and jump with Face Adrenalin a whopping 216 meters into the gorge.
0:28 Helicopter ride
You have to see beautiful Cape Town from above. Helicopter rides are quite affordable and we highly recommend doing it. Some tours even go around the cape – even better!
0:33 Robben Island
You can’t go to South Africa without knowing about its apartheid history. Robben Island, the Alcatraz of Cape Town, held thousands of political prisoners – including of course Nelson Mandela. Tickets are hard to get. So book your trip well in advance.
0:36 Bo-Kaap
The most colourful part of Cape Town is home to an interesting mix of muslim-dutch inhabitants.
0:38 Garden Route
A 400km dramatic coastline between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Knysna Heads is just one of the stops that you have to do on the way.
0:42 East Head Café
This small café with a brilliant view on the Knysna Heads is our personal lunch recommendation for a lunch stop in Knysna.
0:44 Winelands
It is impossible to buy bad wine in South Africa. And you have to visit at least one winery and do a proper tasting. The winery of Viljoensdrift even offers tastings on a relaxing boat trip – for sure the best way to do it!
0:50 Nature’s Valley
One of those places that you hardly find along the road. On our tour we stopped at a beautiful beach right at the river mouth of the Grootrivier. We did not meet anyone there. Which was perfect.
0:53 Noetzie Beach
Yes, it is hard to get there. But the dramatic rock formations are totally worth the exhausting walk down to Noetzie Beach (and back up again).
0:54 Muizenberg
You’re into surfing and beach life? Then you’ll love the relaxed vibe along the ocean boulevard of Muizenberg. And the colourful Edwardian Beach Houses are quite instagrammy.
0:58 Table Mountain
This 1000 meter high mountain right above the city centre of Cape Town is part of the New Seven Wonders of the World – and we have no idea why it hasn’t been one before. You can walk up here, but we highly recommend taking the cableway. Safe your stamina for the Lion’s Head.
1:00 Boulders Beach
Yes, there are penguins in Africa. And they’re awesome. Boulders Beach is a colony where you can even swim with the cutest birds alive – if you pay at the entrance.
1:01 Camp Figtree
…is our idea of a stunning lodge that can’t be found anywhere else on the planet. Places like Figtree are luxurious dreams hidden in the middle of nowhere.
1:03 Cape of Good Hope
Well, you hopefully get there eventually. Though cueing up for a photo behind the famous signboard spoils the romantic a bit. Do it anyway. You’re already there so…

ENGLISH: Noetzie, originally known as Noetziekamma, a Khoisan phrase for ‘dark water’
Ten minutes East of Knysna lies a secluded cove boasting a pristine beach, a quiet estuary, a large variety of indigenous flora and fauna and an eclectic collection of classic beach houses and fanciful “castles”.
No ancient battles or kingdoms lie in the Noetzie Castles’ history, but rather the spirit of pure fun and carefree holidays. Noetzie started out as a holiday destination for families living and working in Knysna and Oudtshoorn. Long before the winding road into it could carry the modern motor vehicle, adventurous groups seeking a quiet retreat would pack up their horse-drawn carts and make their way to the simple seaside huts and camping grounds
Today it belongs to the PEZULA CONRAD Hotel
Knysna is the heart of the Garden Route, a 250km stretch of coastline between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, has about 75,000 inhabitants and is themost popular tourist destination in South Africa. Several times, the city was awarded as the most beautiful city.
Die besten Plätze in Knysna aus der Luft, 20 teilige Filmdoku v. Michael Schellberg:
An einer großen Lagune am Indischen Ozean gelegen, ist Knysna ( Naisna gesprochen ) die Perle der Garden Route, einem 200km Streifen am südlichsten Teil Südafrikas, bestehend aus Urwald, Seen, Flüssen, Gebirgen am Indischen Ozean.
Der ruhige Urlaubsort wurde im Jahr 2000 und 2002 zum südafrikanischen Town of the year gewählt - ein Traumziel am Indischen Ozean, mit Yachthafen, world class Golfplätzen, europäischer Luxusinfrastruktur ähnlich St. Tropez, nur wesentlich günstiger und nie überlaufen ....es gibt alles ausser Wintersport.

NOETZIE BEACH -

Western Cape - South Africa Travel Channel
Western Cape (Wes-Kaap) is a province of South Africa, which is bordered by both the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean.
If you leave Cape Town early in the morning in western direction you will experience the sunrise and the region in its most beautiful colors.
After leaving the Cape Town District , one crosses Overberg, which means as much as behind the mountain of the Hottentots Holland mountain range. This is followed by the Eden District, named after the Garden of Eden. The road runs along the Karoo, a semi-desert landscape.
Who finds himself unexpectedly in front of the sign of Heidelberg, hasn't lost his way. The name suggests that the place was founded by emigrants from Heidelberg.
We reach the coast at Moselle Bay and experience again spectacular beaches. But when bathing one should be careful, because not only the man loves this coast, but also the great white shark.
This landscape is characterized by numerous lagoons that extend far in the hinterland. Villages, such as Knysna, were founded at the lagoons.
