Nordfjordeid is the administrative centre of the municipality of Eid in Sogn og Fjordane county, western Norway. It is located at the end of the Eidsfjorden, an arm off of the main Nordfjorden, west of the large lake Hornindalsvatnet. The village of Stårheim is located about 12 kilometres to the west, the village of Mogrenda is about 5 kilometres to the east, and the village of Lote is about 7 kilometres to the southeast.     Loen Skylift is an aerial tramway in Loen in Stryn, Norway. The cable car climbs 1,011 metres to the top of Mount Hoven, above the Nordfjord. The maximum speed is 7 metres per second . With a gradient up to 60°, it is one of the steepest in the world. The average is 45°. The gondola car is 170 metres above ground at the highest. It is located about 2 kilometres southeast of the village of Loen and about 6 kilometres east of the village of Olden. The lake lies just 2 kilometres southwest of the mountain Skåla. The water from the lake flows down from the mountains; especially from the Jostedalsbreen and Tindefjellbreen glaciers. It then flows out through the Loelva river into the Nordfjorden.

    Selja is a small island in Selje Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway and the original Catholic bishopric which soon became the pre-Reformation Ancient Diocese of Bergen . It has been formerly known as Sellø or Selø. The island is located in the Sildagapet bay, just 1 kilometre west of the harbor in the village of Selje. The sparsely populated island has about 5 permanent residents who commute by boat to the mainland since the island is not accessible by road. The painter Bernt Tunold grew up on the island, where his parents had established a farm on the church grounds.
