Springtime in Rhode Island Tour 2014
This spectacular tour focuses on three of Rhode Island's most picturesque towns, one of which was named one of America's Best Small Towns by Executive Travel magazine. On this journey you will stroll through the serenity and beauty of a place that Yankee magazine calls one of the five best public gardens in New England, enjoy lunch at one of the most popular restaurants on the water in Rhode Island, take in stunning vistas of the Atlantic Ocean as you walk along the sand dunes of a beach preserve which is considered one of Rhode Island's most scenic places, see one of Rhode Island's beautiful lighthouses, and browse a quaint New England village famous for its handmade antiques and crafts. This lovely day will fill you with the joys of spring. Make sure you bring your camera!
Available April 1, 2014 through May 24, 2014; Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; 10:00am -- 5:00pm.
North South Trail, RI
If you are interested in thru hiking the NST yourself, the major obstacles I encountered are:
1. Lack of water along the trail. I showed a lot of water, but I was also hiking 20+ miles a day and carried 1 gallon at a time. I drank 2.5 gallons per 24 hr period.
2. Legal campsites. Various websites have stated there is no legal camping along the trail. This is false. I recommend spending the night in George Washington State campgrounds, Ginny B Campgrounds, Arcadia, and Burlingame if you want to spend your last day at the beach. Most important is to make sure you get a permit for each place you are camping and are doing it legally!
3. The amount of road walking. Although I made excellent time cruising on smooth pavement or gravel roads, I would rather have been true to its name and been a “trail”.
4. The last obstacle is a direct result of the road walking…finding appropriate places to go to the bathroom. For the majority of the hike, 200’ off trail as common outdoor ethics prescribes would have been right in someone’s lawn. The only bathrooms I saw while hiking were at the George Washington Campground and on East Beach
Overall, it was a very pretty hike, I’m glad I did it, but I would recommend it more for cyclists as a weekend tour of RI.

Best Places to Visit in Pennsylvania
Best Places to Visit in Pennsylvania
Nicknamed the Quaker State and the Keystone State, Pennsylvania is a state bordered by New Jersey, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. Pennsylvania is large and diverse, and within its borders you’ll find big cities, rolling agricultural land, traditional Amish settlements and even beaches on one of the Great Lakes. All too often, trips to Pennsylvania revolve around Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. While these great cities are definitely great places to visit in Pennsylvania, don’t forget to add in a few more of the many noteworthy destinations.

4.Ricketts Glen State Park
5.Delaware Water Gap

Black Point Fishing Area ~ Abandoned Windswept Scarborough Ruins ~ Narragansett Rhode Island
Chris and I don't get to Black Point Fishing Area in Narragansett Rhode Island to often. We do love this place. The Rhode Island Rocky Shore is the best.
We headed down to Rhode Island on January 6, 2019 for a fun day. We always like exploring the Old Abandoned Building which is called Windswept Scarborough Ruins. You can find the Abandonded Scarborough Ruins next to Scarborough Beach State Park.
It is a nice walk from Black Point to Scarborough Beach. There are lots of Shore Birds here. In this video you will see Male and Female Common Eiders.

Stealth Camping Rhode Island
Black Rock Fishing Area is one of my favorite places to stealth camp in Rhode Island. It is just north of Scarborough Beach, with easy access via the #66 Bus out of Providence.
This puts you close to both Narragansett and Point Judith, as well as Iggy's Doughboys
