The Lagoa de Óbidos is a lagoon that extends between the municipalities of Óbidos and Caldas da Rainha, in the Oeste subregion of Portugal. It is situated in a shallow depression, defined by unstable irregular contours close to the sea; it is a natural barrier that separate the Atlantic Ocean and marine biome from the river ecosystem of Foz do Arelho formed by lateral dunes. Its connection to the sea is made across an intermittent channel, whose transitional zone that requires timely interventions to maintain its access.

Praia d'El Rey Golf & Beach Resort is a commercial tourism, golf and residential beach resort on Portugal's western Atlantic coast 106 kilometres north of the country's capital, Lisbon. It covers an area of 240 acres and is between the fishing town of Peniche, in Oeste Subregion, to the south and Obidos Lagoon to its north. The first properties built within the site in the late 1990s were near to its gated entrance, followed later by a Marriott Hotel and several hundred more private villas, townhouses and apartments - which are owned mostly by Irish, British and Scandinavian nationals. About an hour away this walled city has great festivals, a wall you can walk around and cherry liquor served in chocolate cups called ginja. If you want tourism information on Obidos or are just looking to get out of Lisbon for a day or two, Obidos is a great place to do it.
