History comes alive in Springfield
Home to the International Mother Road Festival every year, the hottest hot rods come to strut their stuff in Springfield. But Springfield is more than hot rods. Visit Shea's Gas Station and explore 50 years of artifacts they've collected to celebrate Route 66. Stop off and try some of the classic foods of Route 66, like a corn dog at the Cozy Dog drive-in diner, or a heaping bowl of Chili at Joe Rogers Chili Parlor. For another take on Springfield's historic place in America, head to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and learn about the man who would later become one of America's most beloved Presidents. Visit his tomb, and his law offices; and see where he worked and lived before heading to Washington DC.
