Odessa Oblast is an oblast of southwestern Ukraine, located along the northern coast of the Black Sea. The oblast consists in the eastern part of the historical region of Novorossiya and the southern part of the historical region of Bessarabia . Its administrative center is the city of Odessa . The region, the largest in Ukraine by area, approximates the size of either Belgium or the Netherlands. The length of coastline reaches 300 km , while the state border stretches for 1,200 km .
