The Hocking flows mostly on the unglaciated Allegheny Plateau, but its headwaters are in a glaciated region. It rises in Bloom Township in Fairfield County and flows generally southeastwardly through Fairfield, Hocking, and Athens counties, through the Hocking Hills region and past the cities of Lancaster, Logan, Nelsonville, Athens and Coolville.     Beaver Creek State Park is a 2,722-acre Ohio state park in Columbiana County, Ohio in the United States. The park is near East Liverpool on the banks of Little Beaver Creek. It is open for year-round recreation including, camping, boating, hunting, fishing and hiking. Historic remnants of the Sandy and Beaver Canal can be found throughout the park. Confederate General John Hunt Morgan was captured near what is now the park after conducting raids across the state during the American Civil War.

    The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is an annual 26.2 mi race run the first Sunday of May in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its first run was in 1999. It is the 3rd-largest first-time marathon in the United States and had nearly 5000 finishers in 2008. An official time from the Flying Pig Marathon can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon. In recent years, the Flying Pig has included a 5K race, a 10K race, and a half marathon in addition to the traditional marathon race. Added in 2014, there is a 2-mile Flying Fur event for dogs and humans to participate in. The 5K and 10K run on the day before the marathon.
