Hiking Terrapin Mountain Trail near Lynchburg, Virginia
Terrapin Mountain is located in Bedford County, near Town of Bedford and City of Lynchburg, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The Mountain is just east of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Terrapin Mountain Trail runs along the spine of the ridge, starting at Camping Gap as the western trailhead and near Powel's Store at the eastern trailhead. The trail is approximately 3 miles. It is a one way trail, however, one could combine the trail with some forest roads, other trails, or bushwhacking, to create loop hikes of various length.
Terrapin Mountain has steep slopes and many rock formations. The trail is blazed and appeared well maintained. In this video, I hike the trail from Camping Gap, steeply climbing to the ridge and eventually reaching the true summit of the mountain. Very nice scenery all along the way, but especially from a large rock outcrop just below the summit. From the rocks one gets breathtaking views towards Thunder Ridge, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Apple Orchard Mountain, Onion Mountain, and The Peaks of Otter area.
On this visit, I did not get to complete the entire trail due to limited time and very icy conditions on a portion of the trail. It was a great intro to the mountain and I will definitely be heading back in the future to explore it further. Thanks so much for watching!

Portland, Oregon | 10 Things to do this weekend
10 fun and interesting things to do near Portland, Oregon. I hope I found some unique things to eat, see and do. This was my first time visiting Oregon and it den't disappoint. I only ended up spending the weekend in Oregon but I definitely want to go back. If you have any recommendations leave it in the comment section below.
10. Beacon Rock State Park. Located beside the Columbia River and about an hour drive east of Portland, Oregon is this sensational park. I'm honestly surprised so few mention it in any Portland, Oregon videos but if you're in the area this is a spot you're going to want to check out. Beacon Rock is an 848-foot (258 M) basalt volcanic plug. If you have the time hike to the top and enjoy the view.
9 The Cape Horn Lookout. Located about 45 minutes from Portland, Oregon is the Cape Horn Lookout. It's easy to miss but a must stop if you're driving down Washington State Highway 14.
8 Explore Nature. There's so many awesome hikes, waterfalls, trails in and around Portland, Oregon that there's just to many to choose from. I already mention a few but look online and decide where you want to go before visiting.
7 Cascade Locks and Thunder Island. Cascade Locks and Thunder Island is located about an hour east of Portland, Oregon in the Hood River County of Oregon. It's a small town but super friendly and I found Thunder Island to be an amazing spot along the Columbia River to relax, have a picnic or just roam around.
6 Multnomah Falls. I'm a sucker for nature so after hearing about Multnomah Falls from anything and everything related to Portland, Oregon I knew I had to see this place. I won't go into to much details but as the tallest waterfall in Oregon you'll be sure to get some great photos.
5 Search Reddit for more things to do, eat and see while you're in Portland, Oregon. This is one of my go to tips whenever visiting new places and it rarely let's me down.
4 Find a Viewpoint overlooking Portland. There are a few amazing spot to get some amazing views of Portland, Oregon. Check out the Portland Aerial Tram or anywhere around there. It goes from Downtown Portland and takes you up the hill.
3 Check out the local beers/wine. Portland, Oregon is very much known it's alcohol and you won't be disappointed. Look and see if there's any festivals going on or hit up any of the bars/breweries and try something new.
2 Explore Downtown. Obviously you have to see just how weird Portland, Oregon is for yourself. There's ton of things to see, eat and do so I won't go into to much details here but again plan ahead.
1 The Witch's Castle. This one has a interesting past. Tucked away from the city but a awesome spot to get out and explore nature without leaving the city limits.

Grand Teton National Park. Wyoming, United States 3
Grand Teton National Park Wyoming, USA 2005
Another video Grand Teton, part 1
Grand Teton National Park is a United States National Park in northwestern Wyoming. At approximately 310,000 acres (480 sq mi; 130,000 ha; 1,300 km2), the park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long (64 km) Teton Range as well as most of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. It is only 10 miles (16 km) south of Yellowstone National Park, to which it is connected by the National Park Service-managed John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway. Along with surrounding National Forests, these three protected areas constitute the almost 18,000,000-acre (7,300,000 ha) Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, one of the largest intact mid-latitude temperate ecosystems in the world.
Human history of the Grand Teton region dates back at least 11,000 years, when the first nomadic hunter-gatherer Paleo-Indians began migrating into the region during warmer months pursuing food and supplies. In the early 19th century, the first White explorers encountered the eastern Shoshone natives. Between 1810 and 1840, the region attracted fur trading companies that vied for control of the lucrative beaver pelt trade. U.S. Government expeditions to the region commenced in the mid-19th century as an offshoot of exploration in Yellowstone, with the first permanent white settlers in Jackson Hole arriving in the 1880s. Efforts to preserve the region as a national park commenced in the late 19th century, and in 1929 Grand Teton National Park was established, protecting the major peaks of the Teton Range. The valley of Jackson Hole remained in private ownership until the 1930s, when conservationists led by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. began purchasing land in Jackson Hole to be added to the existing national park. Against public opinion and with repeated Congressional efforts to repeal the measures, much of Jackson Hole was set aside for protection as Jackson Hole National Monument in 1943. The monument was abolished in 1950 and most of the monument land was added to Grand Teton National Park.
Grand Teton National Park is named for Grand Teton, the tallest mountain in the Teton Range. The naming of the mountains is attributed to early 19th-century French-speaking trappers—les trois tétons (the three teats) was later anglicized and shortened to Tetons. At 13,775 feet (4,199 m), Grand Teton abruptly rises more than 7,000 feet (2,100 m) above Jackson Hole, almost 850 feet (260 m) higher than Mount Owen, the second-highest summit in the range. The park has numerous lakes, including 15-mile-long (24 km) Jackson Lake as well as streams of varying length and the upper main stem of the Snake River. Though in a state of recession, a dozen small glaciers persist at the higher elevations near the highest peaks in the range. Some of the rocks in the park are the oldest found in any U.S. National Park and have been dated at nearly 2.7 billion years.
Grand Teton National Park is an almost pristine ecosystem and the same species of flora and fauna that have existed since prehistoric times can still be found there. More than 1,000 species of vascular plants, dozens of species of mammals, 300 species of birds, more than a dozen fish species and a few species of reptiles and amphibians exist. Due to various changes in the ecosystem, some of them human-induced, efforts have been made to provide enhanced protection to some species of native fish and the increasingly threatened whitebark pine.
Grand Teton National Park is a popular destination for mountaineering, hiking, fishing and other forms of recreation. There are more than 1,000 drive-in campsites and over 200 miles (320 km) of hiking trails that provide access to backcountry camping areas. Noted for world-renowned trout fishing, the park is one of the few places to catch Snake River fine-spotted cutthroat trout. Grand Teton has several National Park Service-run visitor centers, and privately operated concessions for motels, lodges, gas stations and marinas.

How not to visit MAINE: Portland, Bar Harbor, and not enough time - Traveling Robert
Lessons learned about how not to visit a large state like Maine. First we didn't allocate nearly enough time. Second, it was foggy when we went to see the first sunrise in the USA. Third, campground screwed up our reservation. At that point I gave up and decided to go back some other time. Lobster breakfast in Bar Harbor was great.
