Pachmarhi Hill Station
Pachmarhi is a city in Madhya Pradesh. It is the only hill station in the central region of India. It is situated in the Satpura range and is 3500 ft above sea level. Pachmarhi comes under the Hoshagabad district and is called 'Satpura ki Rani'.
The area was discovered in the modern times by Captain James Forsyth of the British army. In 1857, Pachmarhi became a hill station and sanatorium for British troops in the Central Provinces of India. The population in 1901 was 3020, doubling during the hot summer months. Pachmarhi also served as the summer capital. Pachmarhi is 47 km from Pipariya.
While there are several sites within 5-6 km radius, the best way of getting around is to hire a four-wheeler, Maruti Gypsy being the norm in Pachmarhi. Gypsy can be hired through open market or hotel can arrange with Gypsy operators. It gets comfortable if one visits places of heart-attraction in Pachmarhi in their own vehicle.
One excellent and economic option is to share a Gypsy for sightseeing. They make shared tour keeping in mind the preferences of tourists (for example families or couples are not mixed with group of boys). You would really need to look around for providers of shared tours because everyone tries to promote full hire of vehicles.

The name Pachmarhi is believed to be derived from the Hindi words Panch (five) and Marhi (caves). According to a legend, these caves were built by five Pandava brothers of Mahabharatha era during their thirteen years of exile. The caves are situated on a hilltop and provide an excellent vantage point.
At the time of the British arrival, the Pachmarhi region came under the kingdom of the Gond king Bhawut Singh, although it was not a populated village or town at that time. Captain James Forsyth of the British Army along with Subhedar Major Nathoo Ramji Powar who was later made the Kotwal (Incharge of the armoury (Koth)of Pachmarhi, spotted the plateau in the Pachmarhi region in 1857, while leading his troops on the way to Jhansi. It quickly developed into hill station and sanatorium for British troops in the Central Provinces of India.

This video contains the travel vlog of #Pachmarhi. I went to Pachmarhi and this video includes all those places which I visited in the evening time of 1st day and a whole day of the 2nd day of my tour. I really enjoyed the whole tour and through this vlog, I want that you should also enjoy some amazing places of Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, India, Asia.
Pachmarhi, also known as Satpura ki Rani, is a hill station in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Its many waterfalls include Apsara Vihar, with its calm pool, and soaring, single-drop Silver Fall nearby. The Bee Fall tumbles over a jagged rock face to the northwest. Leopards and Indian bison live in Satpura National Park. The ancient Pandav Caves are a group of 5 dwellings cut out of sandstone on a hill.

Rajendra Giri Sun Set Point is a picturesque spot and offers panoramic views of Pachmarhi. The site was named after Dr. Rajendra Prasad, as he was a frequent visitor to Pachmarhi.
The Rajendra Giri Sunset point is the ideal place to enjoy a great view of nature, especially the sunset. You can spend a quiet evening here with your family and friends as it offers a perfect setting for relaxation and unwinding.
Some other famous tourist destinations of the place include Rajat Prapat, Jatashankar caves, Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve, Pandav Caves, Bee Falls, Chouragarh, Reechhgarh, Duchess Fall, Catholic Church, Dhoopgarh and the Priyadarshini Point (Forsyth Point).
Pachmarhi offers a lot of excitement to the travelers. Trekkers, nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers will find a trip to the Rajendra Giri Sunset point and its neighborhood highly satisfactory.
The best time to visit the site is just after the rains, as the surroundings come into the full scenic mode. Rajendra Giri Sun Set Point is easily accessible from all parts of Pachmarhi by local modes of transport.

Bison Lodge is the oldest house in the town of Pachmarhi that was constructed in 1862. This house serves as a museum, which is dedicated to Captain Forsyth, who is considered to be the founder of Pachmarhi.
The museum houses several pictures, models, maps, graphs and samples of the flora and fauna on the display. This museum also has an open-air theatre that shows documentaries and presentations on wildlife.

An important tourist landmark in Panchmarhi, Pandav Caves lend their name to this picturesque hill resort of Madhya Pradesh. According to local legends and popular beliefs, the five Pandav brothers of Mahabharata, along with their wife 'Draupadi', spent a part of their exile here. Five ancient caverns carved out on a sandstone rock, in a low hillock, forms these famous caves of Pachmarhi. Currently, they stand as protected monuments of the hill station.
Pachmarhi is a combination of the two words 'Panch' and 'Marhi', which translates to 'Five Caves' or 'Five Huts' in Hindi. This reiterates the lore that the caves were home to the five Pandava brothers. These 1,000-year-old rock-cut caves also overlook an attractive garden. Thus, the scenic beauty of the backdrop and their mythological significance makes these caves one of the most famous tourist attractions of the state.
Amongst these five caves, the most well ventilated and the spacious one is the 'Draupadi Kuti', named after Draupadi, the wife of the five Pandava brothers. The darkest of all the caves is the 'Bhim Kothari', named after the toughest of the five brothers - Bhima. All the five caves are hewed in a rough manner, which however do not mar their beauty or attraction. People visit the humble sanctuaries that relate their name with the Mahabharata, round the year.
Though Pandava caves proudly associate with Mahabharata, many archaeologists contradict the fact. They believe that these caves belong to the Gupta period (9th or 10th century AD) and even predict their construction by Buddhist monks. Traces of an ancient brick-built stupa have been unearthed on top of the caves, which dates back these caves to the Buddhist period. Archeologists believe the stupa is a remnant of the regime of King Ashoka.
Nevertheless, many people still deem the caverns as abodes of the Pandavas, and love to visit the place because of their remote antiquity. If you would like to make a visitation to the Pandav Falls while on a trip to Madhya Pradesh, you can simply travel to Bhopal (120 km) by air or Pipariya (47 km) by train and undertake a road journey towards Pachmarhi to reach the site. One thing is for sure, you will never regret undertaking so much travel to visit the caves.
