Fallingwater is a house designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, 43 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The house was built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run in the Mill Run section of Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, located in the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains. The house was designed as a weekend home for the family of Liliane Kaufmann and her husband, Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr., owner of Kaufmann's Department Store. After its completion, Time called Fallingwater Wright's most beautiful job, and it is listed among Smithsonian's Life List of 28 places to visit before you die. Jeep trip to Hanging Rock WV and VA

Tag along with us on a New Years Day Jeep ride to Hanging Rock in WV and VA. Beautiful panoramic views and short hikes to Both places don't disappoint. First spot is in VA off of Potts Mountain Rd in the Jefferson National Forest. It's a short easy I mile round trip hike out to the lookout where you can see for miles and miles into VA and WV.

The second hike is just up the road and back into WV and it's also called Hanging Rock and it has a fire tower built in the 50's which is now the Raptor Observatory and is a neat structure with awesome views as well. This hike is a little more of an incline but also not a bad hike and it's a 2 mile round trip hike.

Home video footage of the 1985 flood in the Parsons WV area. Caused by side effects from Hurricane Juan in 1985. The last part of this clip includes a TV segment from the CBS Sunday Morning Show.

My grandparents lived in Davis, WV at the time and these clips were pulled from my grandpa's old VHS tapes. Luckily their house was not affected by the flood, but my great aunt's house in Parsons was flooded.

A short stroll around Cool Springs Park - Rowlesburg, WV

A pit stop @ Cool Springs Park is a must if passing through Rowlesburg on the George Washington Highway (U.S. Rt 50). Most Consider this a destination all it's own. Open year round as a restaurant, general store and gift shop. The restaurant serves Breakfast all day long with the famous foot long hotdogs at lunch. The park includes an antique farm and railroad equipment, little train playground, fresh produce and fresh flowers for sale, unusual animals, a large water wheel, fish ponds, toys and picnic tables outside to enjoy and rest before you start back out on your journey. The Patowmack Canal offers a glimpse into the early history of this country. Great Falls Park has many opportunities to explore history and nature, all in a beautiful 800-acre park only 15 miles from the Nation's Capital.

This is just a quick video of our latest girl weekend trip to West Virginia. We went to a great little bar in Lewisburg, West Virginia, the Bluestone Dam, New River Gorge, and Sandstone Falls. So beautiful.
