Villa Claude-Lorrain and Other Villas (Paris, 16th Arrondissement)
The two female Asiatic tourists, armed with guidebooks and quietly enjoying a Sunday afternoon walk to look at the architecture in this quiet, often overlooked part of the 16th arrondissement in Paris, were the only outside visitors we saw on this August Sunday, the day before the Assumption holiday -- totally high holiday Summer vacation time here -- July and August are generally to be avoided for visiting Europe (it's hot, costly). You can take the métro to Auteuil to enjoy this area. A villa is a little street (often private), mews, impasse or group of buildings and the name seems to be found only in the Greater Paris (Ile-de-France) region, as far as I've found, anyway.
You'll get a more authentic Parisian experience if you go off the beaten path here a little. Especially in residential areas such as this, businesses tend to shut down for an entire month (July or August, usually). Your pay structure, often even if you are self-employed or have a CDII work contract pays you automatically daily for anticipated time off, so it's nuts to stay open, standing there for no reason, when you don't have to. Your clients certainly won't respect you for it -- it sets a bad example. By not taking some down time and ignoring your health and quality time, you actually end up costing the system more -- you feel tired, get sick, and the family breaks down. This has been very difficult for me to explain to friends and contacts in places such as the USA. You are not actually likely to earn any more money if you DON'T take time off. It's sort of like unpaid overtime -- something you want to avoid.
