It has an area of 25,402 square kilometres and a population of 4 377 941 as of 30 November 2017. The capital of Piedmont is Turin.

    The term Grand Tour refers to the 17th- and 18th-century custom of a traditional trip of Europe undertaken by mainly upper-class young European men of sufficient means and rank when they had come of age .
