Suriname - Pikin Slee Village
Pikin Slee is situated at the Suriname River about three hours upstream of Ayuni, where the road from Paramaribo ends. The area is inhabited by Morrons, descendants of slaves who fled into the jungle. Many people living in Pikin Slee adhere to an animistic religion. When we visited an important ceremony took place.

Due to theft of our good camera we had to take these recordings with a much simpler one. By consequence the technical quality of this video is unfortunately substandard.
• MAKING OF • Suriname reportage editie 69
The point of no return dus. Wat er ook gebeurt, omkeren is voor het duo geen optie.
Suriname, South America's hidden treasure
Suriname, officially known as the Republic of Suriname (Dutch: Republiek Suriname), is a country on the northeastern Atlantic coast of South America. Suriname was colonized by the English and the Dutch in the 17th century.
At just under 165,000 km2 (64,000 sq mi), Suriname is the smallest sovereign state in South America. (French Guiana, while less extensive and populous, is an overseas department of France.) Suriname has a population of approximately 566,000,[1] most of whom live on the country's north coast, where the capital Paramaribo is located. Suriname is a mostly Dutch-speaking country; Sranang, an English-based creole language, is a widely used lingua franca. It is the only independent entity in the Americas where Dutch is spoken.
Orange Travel - Isadou Jungle Tour in Suriname
The Isadou Resort, situated on an island in the Upper Surinamese river, is not only attractive because of its massive water rapids and sandy beaches*, but more for its serenity. Isadou is one of the few resorts where you still have real authentic huts and where the owners are local maroons. This tour to Isadou is unique because its intent is to let the local maroons profit from the growth of tourism in this area. The way the complete staff is consigned from the cook to the guide by eager and enthusiastic maroons from nearby villages will try their utmost best to please the guests.
