Lake Tahoe Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia (4K)
Filled with over 39 trillion gallons of pure Sierra snowmelt and pushed a mile into the Californian and Nevada skies, Lake Tahoe is the USA’s largest alpine lake and one of the country’s oldest, year-round vacation playgrounds.
Lake Tahoe has forever drawn travellers to its shores, from the Native Americans who call this place Big Water, to the trappers, timber cutters and pioneers who followed.
When you’re ready for a little alpine magic, take the four-hour drive from San Francisco to the sunlit shores of Kings Beach. Set on Tahoe’s northern end, this beach was named after local card shark, Joe King, who used his winnings to develop some of the lake’s earliest lodgings. On the lake’s southern shore, is Pope Beach, where you’ll find another Tahoe institution, Camp Richardson.
From Pope Beach follow the bike path to the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. An open-air classroom for the entire family, the center features fabulous interpretative walks such as the Rainbow Trail.
Nearby, at DL Bliss State Park, follow the spectacular Rubicon Trail into neighboring Emerald Bay State Park. This park is home to the Eagle Falls Trail, a moderate two-mile hike that takes in some of the Sierra high country’s finest views.
When the ponderosa pines bend with the season’s first snow, Tahoe transforms into the nation’s favorite winter playground. Whether you’re looking for snow-capped peaks or crystal clear coves, places to bond with loved ones or pockets of pure solitude, The Lake in the Sky has it all.

California Road Trip: 4 Days on Highway 395
Highway 395 road trip through Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, Bishop and Bodie in 4K
Highway 395 is one of my favorite roads in California. There are so many amazing hikes, lakes, restaurants, historic spots and photographic opportunities all up and down the drive. Amie and I were invited by Yosemite Gateway Chalet to spend 4 days exploring, and we jumped at the chance. This video focuses on the area from Mammoth Lakes to June Lake but shows lots of other spots you can explore around those areas as well.

Pioneers and Prospectors of the American West in Colorado
Pioneers first plundered the American West with ambitions to strike it rich with silver, gold and uranium mining. To experience the history of the American West yourself, consider Gateway Canyons Resort, ( as the destination for your adventures into history.
Today, we can experience the history of the West with the landmarks that remain. Calamity Camp on the Colorado plateau and the Hanging Flume are near the resort, as is the remaining
structures of the 1900 mansion built by a wealthy eastern banker. After 4 years of construction, the banker lived there only weeks as his wife felt too isolated. Rich in history, the unspoiled environment and abundant resources in this region not only attracted miners and cattle ranchers, but outlaws like Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch Gang too.

Narrated sightseeing drive, 52 blocks of San Francisco
You are visiting from out of town, we hop in the car, wander around and see some sights (some touristy, some not). We'll follow Mississippi Street to 7th Street to Leavenworth Street, passing through the neighborhoods of Potrero Hill, Mission Bay, SoMa, Civic Center, Tenderloin, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, and Fisherman's Wharf. About 52 blocks in all, give or take, depending upon what you consider a block. Occasionally we'll teleport out of the car and take some side trips.
This started out as a regular drivelapse but somehow along the way morphed into a full driving tour, kind of a drivelapse-travelogue hybrid. Two cameras on board, plus GPS, and a chatty driver.
I'd be interested in any feedback on the closed captions, if you used them. It is maddeningly difficult to do anything remotely sophisticated with closed captions on YouTube because their closed caption implementation has tons of bugs and doesn't interpret most industry-standard captions correctly.
