Poatina is a town in Tasmania, Australia, 60 km south west of Launceston's central business district. Its local government area is the Northern Midlands Council. At the 2006 Census, Poatina had a population of 166. The Poatina Power Station opened in 1964 and Poatina Village was constructed nearby to house the work force from the time that work started in 1958. Hydro Tasmania sold the village in 1995 to Fusion Australia, an Australian Christian Youth and Community organisation that works with young people and their communities throughout Australia. The Cradle Mountain is a mountain in the Central Highlands region of the Australian state of Tasmania. The mountain is situated in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. At 1,545 metres above sea level, it is the fifth-highest mountain in Tasmania, and is one of the principal tourist sites in the state. The Cradle Mountain is composed of dolerite columns, similar to many of the other mountains in the area.

Lake St Clair is a natural freshwater lake located in the Central Highlands area of Tasmania, Australia. The lake forms part of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. It has an area of approximately 45 square kilometres , and a maximum depth of 160 metres , making it Australia's deepest lake. The lake is fed by the River Derwent, Narcissus River, Cuvier River, and Hamilton Creek.Following a decision by the Tasmanian Government to allow development in national parks and conservations areas. After an 'in principle' permit was granted for the establishment of an 'eco-friendly' resort at Pumphouse Point at Lake St Clair; in 2014 construction began on the new development.

Cockle Creek -- this is where the most southerly road in Australia ends. By the time you arrive at Cockle Creek you are almost at the edge of Australia. The tiny seaside settlement of a few shacks 90 km south of Geeveston is a quiet corner, ideal for a summer swim, picnic or campsite. It is also the beginning, or the end, of the South Coast Track, one of Tasmania's Great Bushwalks. To get a taste of the landscape and a stunning cliff-top view of the Southern Ocean and Maatsuyker Island (the last staffed lighthouse in Australia), take the well-marked and easy track that leads to South East Cape overlooking (4.5 hours return) or enjoy a short scenic stroll from your car around the foreshore to the whale sculpture and interpretation sign explaining the whaling history of the bay. The land west of Cockle Creek is the Southwest National Park and the World Heritage Area.
