Places to see in ( Polperro - UK )
Polperro is a village and fishing harbour on the south-east Cornwall coast in the south west of England, within the civil parish of Lansallos. Polperro, through which runs the River Pol, is 7 miles (11 km) east of Fowey and 4 miles (6 km) west of the neighbouring town of Looe and 25 miles (40 km) west of the major city and naval port of Plymouth.
Polperro is a noted tourist destination, particularly in the summer months, for its idyllic appearance with tightly-packed ancient fishermen's houses which survive almost untouched, Polperro quaint harbour and attractive coastline.
Tourism became Polperro's main industry during the 20th century. The village of Polperro is accessible by air via Plymouth or Newquay, by train via Looe railway station, by road and by boat. It was estimated that Polperro received about 25,000 visitors a day during summer in the 1970s. Visitors are no longer permitted to drive cars into the village, having to leave them in the main car park at Crumplehorn to the north of the village and walk through the half-mile length of the village to its harbour. Polperro quaint but narrow streets make driving difficult. There are horse and cart rides and milk floats disguised as trams for those who prefer not to walk.
Attractions of Polperro include the South West Coast Path, the 630-mile (1,010 km)-long and established walk from Dorset to Somerset which passes through the village, and offers day walks along the local scenic coastline, in particular to nearby Talland Bay on the coast path heading East. Westwards, the path passes three large beaches en route to Fowey: Lansallos Beach, Lantivit Bay and Lantic Bay.[20] Within the village is the Polperro Heritage Museum of Fishing and Smuggling, situated on the harbourside in an old fish processing warehouse, which houses interesting photographs of the village's history among other popular displays. Guided walks are available in the village, and boat trips can be taken from the harbour to view the coastline which can offer sightings of dolphins and seals.
The village of Polperro boasts several acclaimed restaurants, including Nelson's and Couch's Great House, as well as seven pubs. A holiday and caravan park is situated outside the village to the northeast at Carey Park. Fishing was traditionally the principal occupation of Polperro families. For centuries the village has been a pilchard fishing and processing port. Fish are drawn for feeding off the South Cornwall coast in late summer bringing rich pickings for local fishermen.
Other than traditional festival days, The Polperro Festival has been held annually since 1996, being a community festival run by volunteers beginning on the 3rd Saturday in June which helps to promote business for the village. Polperro has many legends including that of the ghost of Willy Wilcox who was reputed to be a smuggler and disappeared whilst hiding in the beaches' labyrinthine caves.

Places to see in ( St Just - UK )
St Just is a town and civil parish in the Penwith district of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies along the B3306 road which connects St Ives to the A30 road. The parish encompasses the town of St Just and the nearby settlements of Trewellard, Pendeen and Kelynack: it is bounded by the parishes of Morvah to the north-east, Sancreed and Madron to the east, St Buryan and Sennen to the south and by the sea in the west.
The town of St Just is the most westerly town in mainland Britain and is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) west of Penzance along the A3071. St Just parish, which includes Pendeen and the surrounding area. St Just lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park. St Just is one of only two towns included within the Cornwall AONB.
The identity of Saint Just is not known. Cornwall's long resistance to the edicts of Canterbury and Rome makes it most unlikely that the saint was Archbishop Justus of Canterbury, as some sources claim.[citation needed] Another possibility is the 6th- or 7th-century Saint Iestyn, said to be the son of a ruler of Dumnonia.
Among the prehistoric antiquities nearby is Ballowall Barrow, a chambered tomb. St Just is one of the most ancient mining districts in Cornwall, and remains of ancient pre-industrial and more modern mining activity have had a considerable impact on the nearby landscape.
The parish church of St Just is a fine 15th-century building. In 1336 the church was rebuilt and dedicated by John Grandisson, Bishop of Exeter; however only the chancel of this church survives and the nave and aisles are 15th-century in date. There are two Methodist chapels. St Just is the home of Cape Cornwall School which also serves Sennen, Sancreed, Pendeen, St Buryan and other places in the district.
St Just is home to the popular Lafrowda festival a seven-day community and arts celebration usually held in Mid July. A more ancient celebration associated with the town is St Just Feast which is held every year to celebrate the dedication of the parish church in 13 July 1336. Feast celebrations were moved to the Sunday nearest to All Saints' Day in 1536 following an Act of Henry VIII which means it usually take place at the end of October / beginning of November. Feast itself is a two-day event with a church service and civic procession being held on Feast Sunday and a larger scale popular celebration being held on Feast Monday (which includes a meeting of the Western Hunt). A description of St Just Feast
St Just also has a 'Plen an Gwarry' (Cornish for playing place), locally pronounced 'Plain an Gwarry'. These sites were used historically for open-air performance, entertainment and instruction. St Just's Plen an Gwarry occasionally hosts productions of the Cornish Ordinalia mystery plays. St Just has a healthy artistic scene, including the painter Kurt Jackson who has made several television appearances. Contemporary singer and comedian Jethro from nearby St Buryan played for St Just Rugby Club and has recorded a song entitled St Just.

This travel vlog from St Ives on our Rabbies tour continues on from a video we started in Cornwall earlier in the day and deserves it's own. St Ives and Cornish pasties are on the menu today and we're excited to share both with you, as controversial as our opinions might be :P
Cornwall is home to the Cornish Pasty, another British food we were told we had to hunt out and try. Trying them in St Ives seemed like the perfect place! We couldn't find a nice spot down by the beach so instead found a bakery with great reviews, and apparently awards, to taste.
Cornwall might be one of our favourite places in England, but the pasty probably won't be on our ordering list again. It's not as much about the pasties as it was about our personal taste - not really the sort of combination of flavours that tick the boxes for us!
Rabbies is an award winning small tours company that operate in the UK - 16 seater buses, driver and guide and a load of epic locations to visit. While this is a paid partnership all opinions are our own, as always. We hand pick our partnerships to ensure we keep things real and honest throughout - we genuinely loved our tour and recommend you check out all the tours Rabbies offers here —
